What is the best and cheapest way to ship a hood?

I sold my 05 Ram hood to a guy in Texas and I am not exactly sure how to ship it.

    Will FedEx/UPS freight handle it?

    Is there someone else?

Is one cheaper than the other....

I would go with an actual freight company rather than UPS/FedEx freight. But that's just me. lol

You can try ABFreight. What are the dimensions? I'll see what my rate is, I've got a ups account, usually get around 30-40% off.

That's gonna take a lot of bubble wrap and duct tape.

the hood will have to go truck freight most likely the dimensions are jsut over what fedex or ups will travel with.

go by a local dealer and see if there body shop has a box, you can find them most of the time there, cuts down on cost.

bubble wrap does not work , trust me , use expanding foam, wrap the hood in plastic of some sort, spray the foam on the bottom of the box, lay some plastic over the top of it, wait a few minutes , put the hood in.
then do the same wth the top.

you can get expanding insulation foam at lowes

Good thing is...the guy who is taking it is doing his own body work and is making the hood a custom hood for his truck haha

regardless, you don't want it fucked up when it gets there...don't think freight movers give a shit about your package...esp big heavy builky ones...take EVERY precaution.

UPS and FED EX both have LTL freight...I've shipped hoods, tailgates and large stuff like that, and wrapped in bubble wrap, then wrapped in cardboard, then palletized it, and shrink wrap to pallet...place BIG LABEL on it that says
    "DO NOT STACK"
also mark it on the bill of lading, and make driver initial....Good luck with it once it leaves.

Well the good thing is...hes not "buying" the hood per say as much as hes just paying for shippment...

i was gonna throw it out if nobody wanted it so i said "free as long asy ou pay shipping" on my ram site....

    he wanted it....

ill ask him how much he wants to ensure its safety and go by what he asks lol...if he wants it HARD CORE protected i shall..if he says how it comes is how it comes...then he will get it that way haha

hes payin the bill for the supplies and shipping haha
