Take a look at this picture: I'm wanting to get rid of the damn BLUE fuel injectors. They mess up my whole color scheme in the engine bay. So without having to buy new injectors, lol. Do you guys think a few quick shots of some black spray paint will be okay?? It shouldn't impair operation as long as it's light, correct?? Also. I'd like to remove the fuel rails and paint them black as well. But I've never done anything like that. So are the rails easy to remove?? Are there any dangerous precautions I should take?? What do you guys think of this idea in general?? I'm not trying to spend another $400 on black injectors, or $250 on black fuel rails. So if my idea doesn't pan out, then I'll wait til a later date. Thanks for any help!!
as long as paint does not cover the ends, i cant see an issue with a light coat. as for the rails, the only hard part is disconnecting the incoming fuel line. it comes in on the passenger side and requires a special disconnect tool to undo. the tool is cheap and can be bought at any decent auto parts store. just DO NOT attempt to undo the line after the car had the key turned on. i have seen first hand what happens when you pop off the fuel line while under close to 60 psi!!! not a pretty sight!! if the car has been sitting, then it might drip a little, but no big spraying gyser!!! two 8mm bolts on each side that hold the rail to the manifold and gently pull up..... the rails and the injectors come out as one!!! good luck!!
I'll check into the tool. Got a part number, or what it's called, Chris?? I can go pick one up tomorrow when I go get the paint. And yeah, car's been sitting for a few days, so no worries there. That makes it so much easier they come out together, should make the painting easier, too! Thanks buddy!!
What Chris said above. I think the fuel coupler takes the brown colored tool, but I can't remember. Maybe shoot Cam a PM, he will know.

now this is just damn funny right here!!!! take that drew!!!! :ronlove: btw - chase, you need the 3/8" fuel line removal tool......... tell the store clerk what you need and they will show you what it is. pretty basic tool to have in a auto store.

You can do the injectors with no problem. Get a plastic primer, and i would suggest a high temp paint... Fuel rail removal...pull fuse pump fuse, i think it's number 6 or 8 in the trunk box (it's in the manual). Crank up car and let it run out of fuel. Let cool. Use 3/8 disconnect tool and disconnect fuel line on passenger side near fire wall. Disconnect all electrical connectors from injector. Remove 2 bolts each side that holds rail to manifold. Spray a penetrating lube (WD-40) around each base of the injectors....give it a minute to penetrate and lube the o-rings. Wiggle the rails a bit and simply pull them off. Injector removal...Each injector has a slot in it and a clip holding it on the rail, the clips are "horse shoe" type and push off one way with a little persuasion. Once clip removed, pull down on injector away from rail and remove. To paint them ,you will need to remove all the o-rings (2 each injector) and tape off the ends and electrical port. Take a piece of cardboard and punch 8 equally spaced holes in it with something around 1/4" in diameter. Insert injectors into the holes for a holder, then paint. Make sure they are clean and free of oils or dirt...plastic primer them, then paint with your favorite color.... tiddie nipple pink. For the rails...Why paint?

No problem, anytime...any questions, just post it up. I'm partial to the polished myself, but to each his own...paint the injectors first and see how that turns out, then if you don't like it, paint em up...I'de suggest sanding them with some 220 grit first and rough em up...then prime and paint with high temp, then clear...to REALLY be first class...bring them to a pro and have them spray it for you...prolly pretty cheap too.
