In an attempt to keep my car off the popo's radar I painted the cooler core for my aftercooler with Eastwood's radiator black paint (http://www.eastwood.com/ew-radiator-black-12oz-satin-finish.html). My inlet air temps have remained consistent at 7 degrees above ambient before and after painting. Before: After:
Nice! I was asking about this a while back, didn't like the silver showing through. So I assume this is "special" paint that won't have any clogging or peeling issues especially with the heat?
They noticed it on my buddy's car. They looked in the grille, looked back at him and said open the hood...
hell yes they do. most sd popo when throught a training coarse a little while ago to bust on the imports. big intercoolers = whining sound = big ticket.
= car on trailer being taken away. I need to check into the legalities about what they can use as "PC" to make someone open their hood. I know excessive db's from the exhaust is one...
they can make you open it for anything they want, if you refuse then they can just call for a traffic enforcement officer to do a vehicle safety and emission inspection. :hypno:
Do they need one? I guess search and seizure applies to opening your car to look for stuff inside it. But what about checking the car itself for CARB or whatever legal? I assume they have to measure the db's? Haha, Corsa/Mopar is suppose to pass CA db testing. Not sure it passes the db levels at WOT but it's supposed to pass if they follow that particular test procedure... We're all going to have to go live with Hal... heh, maybe a bumper sticker that says "No habla Japanese".
wow, i am so glad i do not live in cali anymore!!! lol funny you post this adam...... i am getting ready to install my air/air set up and was not too thrilled about having a ton of shiny aluminum sticking out of the grill!!! great find!!
How many cans did it take to cover it? Did you do the whole thing, i.e. both sides, or just the front?
I just painted the front/sides of the top cooler. You can't see the bottom one unless you're really low and there is some light from the front. It took less than 1/2 a can for 2 coats.
Nice. Looks like this is going to be a Cally must do mod.... at least until they get our SC CARB numbers in.
Yeah, having sprinklers in our complex sucks. That was from one day, the car was clean the day before.
