i am trying to do a low cost engine rebuild for a customer (more on the build after i have it all finished). from some of the things i have seen lately (with my own eyes) i believe the connecting rod is a sound piece as long as you don't get carried away with the motor. but the rod bolts left something to be questioned. so i contacted arp and they did not have a direct part listed. so i gave them all the deminsions and they said they had one that should work. i got them today and they look good to me. if anyone is interested the part number is 4AM1.850-2U. you will need to order 16.

i will take some slack for this but they fit a toyota, but i don't care. as long as they work i am fine with it, lol.

    UPDATE:

this morning i pushed all the pistons in an found a small problem. on the #8 piston (which is the last one install) i hit a snag. the inboard side bolt hit the oil galley in the block. i removed all the rod bolts and shorted the head by .050" now the is plenty of clearance.

No clearance issues with the longer head on the bolt?

    What about the thread count?

Looks good, and if it works, saweeeeeeeeeeeet.

I was going to post a clever reply here, but it involved Ron's mom. Seeing that Ron is so old. I can only assume that she is deceased and that would be disrespectful.
