    I play Pro V1x's lol....

Or NXT's if i want to use a cheaper ball....

I went for a fitting....explained my situtation to the guy...he said well let me see your swing...handed me a driver...watched me swing about 5 times and goes

"you need to come back when the pro pro is here....you really need to have a very specific shaft and i am just his assistant" haha

so he probably just suggest drivers to people...not custom fits purpose chosen shafts....

so I have to go back...

SUCK IT!!! both of you LOL

Kudos to the shop for not just pushing the latest hot, high-end shaft on you.

i hit a few drivers in there just to see how they felt....

    god i Hate ping drivers....

also i hit some R7 irons and those are on my "to get list" now lol

(and no i didnt just hit them...i hit a whole bunch of irons but i really like the R7's)

    Titleist 983K.
Reasonable size - you don't think you're in a Monte Python movie
    Reasonable shape
Classic finish - doesn't look like a paint job off a squid bike.
Reasonable sound - (as far as metal goes) doesn't sound like you're hitting an empty beer can or ringing a bell.
    Works great.

(Switching to that from my Apex persimmon driver made the pain and embarrassment of using a metal wood almost bearable).

stock shafts suck anyway, i tend to lean towards grafalloy, but havent re-shafted a wood in a few years...dont know what the best is right now. drew hits it a mile and a half! i was there to see it but hes a tall guy. you and i are more around the same height we prob have a diff swing speed than drew.

I use steel shafts in my irons. Guess I'll have to go to graphite when I'm Hals age.... if I live that long! Lol... With our swing speeds, no need for graphite... yet.

I usually go and see my bud in Ithica once in a while. I'll bring my sticks next time and look you up next time I'm out that way. How far is that from you?

It's definitely hard to keep up with the technology of these things... seems like as soon as you get something new, it's already outdated by the time it's in your bag...Lol!

I hear ya on sticking with what works... I have you beat... I still have the TM 360's series...a couple of years prior to your RAC's. The groves are about gone on my 8I and below... not a lot of use out of the longer irons... no need when you own the long ball...Lol. The better half bought me the Calloway "fitting center" package and "permission" to get the new irons, but still sticking with "old reliables" for now.
    Like I always say....
"I'd rather be a Lob Wedge out of the ruff than a 5 iron out of the fairway any day"!!! Who cares if I'm not straight (down the middle smart arses)... I get my money out of the course that way!

I love my graphite shafts in my irons. Only steel shaft in the bag is on my lob wedge. Back in 82? Hogan made a few "tour weight" stiff graphite shafts. All the weight of steel and plenty stiff but with that soft graphite feel at impact. No, you guys wil never experience them. Go cry in the corner with the rest of the peasants.

Again, I can't think of the name, but there are those stepless steel shafts that have some of the best qualities of both.

That's cause you're old... Old people use graphite shafts cause they can't get it up! Lol...J/K.. Ya, Bullet, True Temper and a few have the "stepless" shafts... pretty good shafts.

I used to be a freaking MASTER at the lob wedge....i have a 64* lob but I really dont use it as much as i used to....I have gotten much more proficient with the 8I chip and the open faced sand....

inside 50 yards just call it a day lol...

I need to look into a gap wedge or something between a sand and a pw....

the 2 clubs i'd like to add to my collection are a 3 iron and a gap wedge

    Currently im palying with...

D,3W, 4,5,6,7,8,9,PW,SW,LW,P so I can add 2 more clubs to the set and still be within "regulation"

and if you want old...wait till i get home...ill take a pic of dads old clubs if I can find them....including one REALLY old one LOL

I can get us on at TPC Sawgrass where they play the Players Champ. every year. You know..... the one with the island 17th hole? I'm in Ponte Vedra Beach. Look me up bro. Love to play with ya. What's your handicap?

I used to carry five wedges. When I ordered my irons, I didn't get a 3 or 4 iron so I could add more wedges. Never really have a use for a 2 or 3 when I can hit a 5 iron 210 -220. I now carry a D, 3W, Hybrid 1 and 4, 5-9 irons, PW, AW (same as a gap wedge), SW and alternate 2 60 degree LW's. One with massive bounce for sand traps or whatever and one with hardly no bounce, depending on what course I am playing.
