what experience do you guys have with aftermarket replacement rotors for the srt? who makes the best? drilled, slotted or both? thanks mucho.
with the cheap price of oem rotors i would never go aftermarket unless i went to a 2 piece for the look.
I was able to cut my OEM rotors twice and got 43,000 miles off of them before I got new OEM rotors. Stay with stock SRT8 rotors. You will never go wrong!
ive got 66,xxx on my stockers. just now starting to feel them go poo poo. nothing wrong with the stockers at all. just trying to cut down on brake fade
sweetness. where exactly are you again? lets not talk about birds right now. we just signed michael vick. man am i butt hurt.
lmfao, yea I heard that on the news. lol I am in Wind Gap. it's of highway 33, about 25 miles north of Easton.
gotcha, ill have to look that one up. ill give you a shout if your number hasnt changed. uh oh, i have your number :ronlove:
if that's in pa. you need to change your info under your avatar. incorrect info should be a forum no-no. hahahahaha. who's the stupider now! loloh:oh:
I replaced my rotors a couple weeks ago after starting to get the brake fade. I bought the OEM ones of of Dodgeparts.com for $300 delivered. The great initial bite and braking is back!!
ive been using the pq's for about 30k now. i figured now that i have black wheels, i dont care about dust so i went with the red stuff. im excited to have some bite back in my brakes and no fade! im still curious as to the performance differences in brakes. im interested in the dimpled and slotted rotors.
My understanding is that dimpled/slotted/drilled rotors are all for weight reduction, help in cooling and evacuating brake dust (and looks). Reducing unsprung weight can help with handling but I think there's more of an effect on lighter cars (with lighter wheels). dimples, slots, and holes give you more surface area to dissipate heat but you have less surface area for braking. I got the impression that all that stuff didn't do a whole lot to improve the actual braking itself -- unless you got pad design problems and can't get the dust evacuated from the leading pad edge. In fact, I believe that for all out stopping performance you can't beat solid rotors?
^^^ the voice of logic rears its ugly head...Dave your are something dude, thank God you own our cars...dunno what we'd do without ya bro! Purely for looks, i'de go with these for replacement, but 350.00 a pair, the OE's look fine: http://www.brakeworld.com/catalog.asp?page_id=items&catid=1
There's also that small thing of the non-solid rotors developing micro fractures around the holes/slots. Under extreme use that's the reason you're going to replace them (before they wear out otherwise). I think you should be the very first one on our block to get the carbon fiber or ceramic rotors! That would be truly BADASS.
thats why i was curious about dimpled. they dont go all the way through, granted they're still not as strong as the solid rotors are ive never even heard of cf rotors lol
Dimpled, drilled, slotted, all for the same reason. Weight reduction and increased cooling surface area and somewhat to help with dust evacuation. They all reduce the rotor to pad surface area so it's a tradeoff.
