Thinking about trying it out. I know the mass opinion of car salesmen but I've been looking into it and seems like now might be a good time. At least for the next few months while this clunker program is in effect. Yolanda got hired on the spot at Nissan on the west side and the package they're offering seems good at first but I wanna see how it turns out for her.
Sales are definitely up with the cash for clunkers program, but don't forget the flip side. Right now, the next 6 months worth of potential new car buyers are rushing to buy over the next week, after the program ends there will be a slow down in new car sales for sure.
I know people who make 6 figures a year selling cars at large dealerships....they have been in the business for decades though and have built a large customer base.....if you are a people kind of guy and can hide your anger when a customer takes up 3 hrs of your time and then says he is just looking you might make it..
As long as you're not passing up anything else you should give it a try. Otherwise wait to see how it goes for Yolanda. I assume there are a boat load of different ways they pay. hourly, hourly + commission, commission only, ... I also assume it's pretty cut throat. What times you get to work, seniority, favoritism, getting deals/sales snatched by your co-worker, how many sales people are on the floor at a given time, etc. Make sure you have no liability (other than getting fired).
the nicer the car the more moeny you make.... the guy that sells us our Mercedes is a Maybach dealer and he drives an S65AMG...as his car....
good points, the cash for clunkers program is def gonna die off sooner then later. Hoping to maybe get some experience now and then when the semiconductor industry picks up maybe go back. Who knows?? Talked to some sales guys this week and they all say the same thing. They like to sell the job like they sell the car so I'm not gonna belive anybody till I see it in writing but so far it sounds promising.
what do you do in Semiconductors....and who do/did you work for? things are looking to be ready to pick up again....
Field Service for Novellus, thin films. I hear its already picking up here. Only problem is we would be third party if I went back. Not much stability but neither is selling cars. You in the industry too?
I dont work in Semiconductor Manufacturing... but my office is in this place....lol http://www.semiconductor-technology.com/projects/ibm_fishkill/
Oh! Right on! Novellus supported fishkill too but I don't know if there is anybody left up there. So you work for IBM?
We got to move these; refrigerators We got to move these; color tvs Money for nothing and chicks for free
yes sir ree bob... and yeah fishkill is still mainly supported by the tool vendors...sometimes the AMAT guys get on my nerves hahahaha
