I posted this over at LXF...

hopefully yall here at the C can help me better....

I got a call from the stealership because my low beam HID wasnt working.

he said that 3 of the levers going to the PDC on the connectors are broken.

He said the only way to fix this was replacing the whole harness

I just called him to find out exactly what it was... trying to get more info from him...

He said he is 90% sure the levers are the only thing broken yet they want me to replace the whole harness .... Can anyone elaborate on this.

Obviously I am not going to replace the harness when the wiring is good.

Its probably a locking lever to hold the cable to the fuse box. They hang under the box, so the lever holds them up so they don't pull out over time.

Right, but if those levers break, and the harness goes into free hang mode, it then causes the pins (at the connector) to 1)break, 2) become deformed (open door here lol), 3) all of the above. This may be why the dealer is wanting to replace that portion of the harness.

This should be a warranty item?

they said its not covered under warranty... he suggested that we get it snug and use zipties, since it would be 2k for the harnesses and what not... i thought that was absurd and i refuse to pay that obviously.....

Why don't you try using zip ties right now and see if that works....$2'gs for a plug essentially? I would try the ties first, if that can be done....it cant hurt...

I would also make him show it to you. It sounds like they're trying to make some big cash off of you. If it is broken, I'd check with Cleveland pick-a-part or other junkyard for a used one.

    i totally agree

he said it looked like someone just yanked them out of the module so the ears broke off which make sense...

I told him to show me, he even said he wouldnt pay that kind of money and the tech said that as well..... he said he would try and use zipties to hold it in place....

I just find it hard to believe that its coming lose and only 1 low beam isnt working.... sounds fishy as hell to me ya know... especially when high beams work

yeah i am not dishing out the cash F that lol.....

he said that the ears on the connector are broke off so therefore the lever wont go down on 3 of them.... 3 of the 8 modules that are in there...

I would use zip ties or just electrical tape to hold it together. If you anal then find a junk yard and pay to cut that piece off and then do a reconnect. There are connector that are water prof that you can buy to make the connection.
