Does this sound right? Was out taking a cruise the other day, when I noticed my car's temp getting kind of high, (Extra odd since I have a 180 tstat). temp was at 220 and climbing, with no sign of the fans kicking on. Before I know it, my baby is creepin up on the red! I had to pull over and shut her down with the hood popped to disperse some of the heat just to get it home. Naturally I call the dealer where I bought it and dropped off the car yesterday. Get the call today, letting me know that the 50 watt fuse that powers the fans is MISSING! Wtf?! I havent been in the fuse box in over a year and the fans were running fine last week. Then when they stick a fuse in, the fans don't work. They "jumped" one of the fans and forced it on, said it sounded odd and ordered a new one which am waiting on now. Is it just me, or does this whole thing sound like one big clusterf~@&?
At least they figured out that the high speed fan was bad. This has happened to many LXers, including me (fan going bad that is). As for their story to you... I think Gomer Pyle was working on your car...
Ha! "Gawwwwwally, I dropped his fan fuse down the sewer drain...I'll just tell him it disappeared! Shazam!" Sounds about right. I hate bringing my car back to the dealer, they havent exactly been confidence inspiring in the past... I didnt know about our fan issues, so that puts my mind at ease a little. Thanks!
Maybe the fan motor went bad, and then when the fuse blew it ... vaporized :shok: that would explain everything. Hopefully it's just a matter of the tech telling the service advisor telling the guy who calls people and the message got totally munged on the way.
Sadly, I actually spoke to the tech, who informed me my fuses' apparent foray into the fifth dimension. I gotta find a new shop....
ewww. Ok, try this one: Tech was looking at the wrong fuse socket. That would explain why the fan didn't work when they plugged a new fuse in it. maybe you could have them send your new fan(s) to the new shop when they come in. All this is giving me a lot of anxiety... It's time for another oil change/service and my most excellent service department/dealer closed their doors a month or 2 ago and I have to find another one.
I'm also thinking they were looking at the wrong fuse, as I know NOBODY has been in there messing with them. Fans no run without fuse, fans ran less than a week ago, fusebox unopened for at least a year, logic kinda dictates that the fuse had to have been there! Fat lotta good logic does me. It would seem like they are trying to screw me over, but the really odd thing is that they are covering it under warranty, so its no burn on my wallet. I would def bring to another shop if there was one located reasonably close, which there isn't. :-(
Hey Ron, I have the old GSM mod where you have two switches, one to disable the traction control and the other to manually turn on the cooling fan....is it the high speed fan that those were usually wired to or where they the low speed fan? A missing fan fuse? Sounds wacked..... Maybe the missing fan fuse is up there on the grassy knoll with the second shooter......
Dude seriously stop doing things without talking to me first LOL PM me and we shall discuss where you need to go around here haha
brad..... what he said ^^^^^ and get rid of the POS gsm fan mod thing!!! i threw mine straight in the "mods that i got screwed on" cabinet!!! lol oh yeah, i have had THREE high speed and TWO low speed fans crap out in 36K miles!!!!!
What fans are you running now?? I had my share of screwing from gsm, but I never figured the fan mod was one of them, at least not yet.
