I hope so. I hope to run the fuel system this weekend. I really, really want it done before the shindig. If it is done in time, I'll start on a 200 shot. If it holds together, 2nd pass will be a 250 shot.

I finally got to make a couple of nitrous passes on the new heads. The weather was very hot and humid. Somebody had a DA gauge and it read 2300. Here's a break down of one of my runs before the heads and after. However, the run before was in -1350 DA. I was spinning pretty bad last night so my car was short shifting 1-2.

    Before After
    60' 1.559 1.660
    1/8 6.91 7.13
    MPH 99.69 98.41
    1/4 10.84 11.08
    MPH 124.8 124.7

I lost a lot of ET in the 60' because I couldn't hook. That and the short shifting 1-2 cost some ET and MPH in the 1/8. However, I still ran the same MPH in the 1/4. So I actually picked up MPH from the 1/8 on. If I could have duplicated my 60' times I feel I probably would have right back to 10.8's in a lot worse conditions. I'm very happy with the results and can't wait for some cooler weather.

Strong run right there Rob. You get things ironed out and find another -1350 DA, there's no telling where your ET will end up. Real LOW is my guess.

I'm spraying 175 which the max the Zex will go. I still need to finish the direct port which should be done by next weekend. I'll start at 200 and work my way up.

I would love to see what it would have done in some negative DA. I was very happy to almost trap 125 in the weather we had last night. I had hoped it would cool off as the soon went down, but it just got more humid. When I got home, my clothes were still wet from sweat.

I'm hoping for at least 10.50's out of the stock bottom end. If I can get halfway decent weather and a good 60' time, I think I can do it.

DA is not much of a factor with nitrous...it can effect S/C performance somewhat, but when your spraying in -30 degree F oxygen into the combustion chamber, that's a huge boost in DA factor.
Your 60' times were your enemy for ET..running the same MPH overall means little HP change overall, but you are prolly generating more torque, hence the hook up problems. You'll have to relearn how to drive it, how much pressure, what stall, etc etc...

I realize DA doesn't play as much of a factor with nitrous, but I still think it affects performance. On the same shot before the heads, I would run 11.0's @ 121 in the heat. Of course that was with a better 60'. Last night, I was able to run 11.0's at 124.7. So I would disagree about little HP change. There was another SRT 8 running last night too. The difference was I had heads and long tubes. His was running 13.0's and I went 12.51 on motor.

I tried to compare my best run in negative DA to last night's run. I should have compared days with similar DA.

I had 17psi in the new Hoosier slick. I realize this is a little high, but I don't have them screwed in yet. I tried 15 psi on my last pass and they spun on the rim. However, they were very stable. I run a Mopar 2600 stall and I still have the stock cam. On the drag radial, I would hit the nitrous about 5 feet out. I tried that last night and spun through first and short shifted to second. I'll try it again once I get the slicks screwed to the rims. I'm positive it'll go 10.8's in the heat on the 175 shot.

Here's video of a couple of my passses:

    Okay, I'll type slowly.

I was comparing my runs before and after the heads. I was pleased that I could run the same MPH considering a 3000 shift in DA. Your point was that DA doesn't matter with nitrous. Maybe on a 300 shot, but on a 175 I still think it affects performance. My best time in positive DA is an 11.07 @ 121 before the heads. My best time last night was 11.08 @ 124. I picked up 3 MPH with DA being the same.

I hope this clears things up. Since I haven't been on a dyno, I can only compare times. I'm trying to compare times in good weather and bad so everyone gets the whole picture. Just trying to be complete in my analysis.

    ahhhh dont forget
    ported tb
    catback
high flows compared to no cats
    ported intake manifold
    mtcm?
    sway bar removed
    axles
100lbs driver dfference..tho the heavier driver is way better lookin..not sure
if that makes a difference on the track :)

    plus i went 12.95 once last night...hehe

wooowh back the truck up d/a does affect nitrous well the engine anyway
it affects n/a the most with s/c you could change drive ratio to compensate
for the lack of air cant do that n/a thats why when they race with high d/a it really doesnt affect s/c setups if you can change you drive ratio but if you cant then it affects them to. Dookie i understand what you are saying about the nitrous it will be a constant but the outside air it encounters will be very different thus the difference in power

I'll let that go, just because I'm a nice guy
And N/A, yea, i know it makes a difference...You can run x.xx N/A and make equipment changes then run faster times and quicker ET N/A with same DA conditions...then apply that SAME nitrous set up to it and you may even run worse...you have to consider all things and tune your nitrous for that N/A change...if done correctly, you should be faster both N/A and nitrous.

Lets say you do all that, you make N/A improvements, and retune your nitrous set up accordingly (not increasing dose) you should be faster running nitrous regardless of DA (to a point)...nitrous is the DA equalizer...with nitrous...+ or - a few tenths, and MPH within 1-2...you can believe what you want, can throw whatever logic you have at it, it still isn't as much a factor as you are making it to be. On the above scenario, all things being equal, your results won't vary as it would if you were N/A versus nitrous. You're doing several things when you spray....cooling the existing air, injecting more feezing oxygen, cooling intake, drastically increasing cylinder pressure regardless of the sea level and ambient.

This isn't my opinion, i've run alot of nitrous and no matter the season, or temps... with traction, my times and MPH never varied much

I'm also not saying you can't get more out of your system if you monitor it closely and FINE tune it to that day's DA...but if you're only running 150-175 shot, you're only going to squeeze a few tenths either way, and maybe a couple MPH if your running it conservative in the first place (which you should).

You're right if we are splitting hairs, and when your splitting hairs, you can tune for the DA that day anyway. FI, or spray.

So if D/A doesnt matter on N20 Then where did the gains come from? All I can say is I have time slips with just about the same 60' same mods and I slow down when the florida hot ass weather sets in.And if he showed a gain with only a head change then it is what it is.Not to mention IMo there isnt a better driver down here in our group then Rob.The guy is very conistant.

I think the practice came from his 9 second GNX

rob had a 9 sec gnx????? wow....... and i thought this was his first fast car!!! lol

kyle, i understand where you are coming from in that n2o theoretically should not be effected like a n/a set up, but when the air gets this hot and this humid, it does effect things. after all, it still is getting sucked into the motor and mixed with the n2o. at the levels that rob and scott run nitrous, i do not the the spray is enough to overcome the effects of the oppressive ambient air we have here in the summer months.
