I finally had a chance to head to the track with my new Mondello heads. Unfortunately, I was only able to make one pass. At my local track, if more than 5 cars show up everything goes to shit.

My only pass was a 12.41 @ 111. I'm not sure what the DA was but I do know it was very hot and muggy. The last time I ran it was June 13TH. My best pass that day was 12.73 and my MPH was 107-108 that day. That is about the only day I can compare similar days to compare the heads. I also added Dynatech at the same time.

I must say the car felt stronger out of the hole. It definitely seems to pull stronger on the street. I hope to make it out again next Wednesday to get some nitrous runs. I'm very happy with the results for only a head swap.

Edit: DA was around 1850 on both days.

I still have the stock cam. I'm building a forged 6.1 and I'll change the cam then.

It was on the new Hoosier slick. It definitely felt stronger out of hole. It pulls strong through the entire powerband. I really wish I would have had more runs.

I may try to go back on Wednesday and hopefully get a chance to spray it. I'm so frustrated with my local track I don't know if it is worth the hassle.

Don't worry, I was using the new Hoosier slick. I'm only using those d/r's for burnout contests.

Looks like DA being equal.......its a good gain for a only a head swap. Too bad you didnt get another run. 2-3 runs and the WOT adaptives come to life. In addition I guarantee you it needs some tuning. The CHAMBER mod tolerates a bit more timing.

I know I could benefit from a tune. The only thing I've done is add fuel with the Predator. I'm really happy with results considering I'm just guessing on the tune right now. I hope to make it out Wednesday to see what it does on the spray.

Horsepower TV did a piece on Mondello yesterday. That guy is an artist! Nice to see his heads making this kind of power.

I wouldn't think his experience is applicable only to Oldsmobiles. I'm sure that improving flow and combustion events are pretty standard stuff for a guy of his background and knowledge. I'd really like to have seen some flow numbers and dyno comparisons.

He did big block Hemi heads before Oldsmobile...
    Don Garlits ran Mondello heads.
    Among others.

I'm going to try and get some dyno numbers, too. However, right now my schedule is pretty tight. If I get a choice of going to the track or a dyno, I'm going to the track. Plus, I still have to get my direct port nitrous system finished. Last time my car was on a dyno was at Diablo when I was a beta tester. I remember the numbers being in the 390 range. At least, if I get to a dyno we'll have a baseline.

If I am able to get to a dyno it won't be until mid August. Which is about the same time of year it was dynoed before. So at least the weather will be comparable.
