As most of you know I just had a new transmission put in a few weeks ago. Well I have the same "whine" back, that I had before the trans went bad the first time. It's not near as loud, but it's there. On top of that, when I leave from a red light, there is a "confusion" from the transmission. Hesitation in shifting, random upshift, then downshift, and almost a "slip" in what it's supposed to do. I'm sure I know the answer to this, but is it the torque converter?? I had it rebuilt when I did the transmission just a few hundred miles ago!!!! What else could it be??
Torque converter is the Precision Industries Triple Plate, I beleive 3200 stall. My TCM is stock, only has the flash from the TSB a couple years ago.
ditto to the questions above...... if you have a higher stall t/c that is set up a bit on the "loose" side, this might explain a few things........ what is your exact set up buddy. btw - i feel your pain my friend!!!
Shouldn't need to guess, the fill amount is in the service manual, even if they don't have the tool...Check fluid amount and smell (yea smell) if your fluid smells like electical burn, you're slipping the clutches bad and likely low on fluid. Is it a NEW tranny or rebuilt? Any codes? My converter is a 3600 PI, never a problem.
They put 9 quarts of fluid in for the install. Kyle, the transmission is a built Southern Hot Rod transmission! The trans does take 9 quarts right????
16.3 pints of mopar atf-4 is recommended chase..... quick - what does 16.3 pints equal in quarts??? lol
That would be 8.15 US quarts. Which is less than 9 quarts and it's bad to overfill a transmission but most places will charge for whole quarts or pints or whatever and round up on any fraction.
No, Diablo TCM tuning blows chunks. And I can tell you first hand it creates more slip, more heat and is generally, not very good. Oh you can argue how well you think it shift and all that. But monitor your tranny temps some day, both with the diablo and without and come back and talk to me.
Overfill will make it feel sluggish and confused (ask me how I know) Get a fill level check. Have you called SHR? See what Eddie has to say.
Thanks guys, I'm out of town all week this week, but I'll check into all this when I get back!!! YOU GUYS ROCK MY FUCKIN WORLD!!!!!!
I think that's my problem right there .. my TC and solenoids were installed last week and now the cars feeling lazy .. I just installed hi-flo cats hoping to wake it up a little and nothing .. Thanks Dookie .. glad your back baby
