My rear centri posi quiet pads are squealing like CRAZY when coming to a stop at like 5 mph or so, bedded the pads several times, when they heat up there fine but when the cool off the noise just comes back and its LOUD when coming to a stop. The fronts are quiet as can be. Any thoughts, I have to call Zeckhausen later to speak to Dave about this, the rears are far from quiet.
Are you doing the bedding prodcedure exactly like Dave advises?....I have had mine for 2 yrs and 20,000 miles and they have never squeeked...not at all...first vehicle I have owned that never squeeked.........I am sure Dave will find a solution.
I've had mine for maybe 15K miles and same here, never a squeak. I did the bed-in procedure from Dave's website - made me really car sick actually.
Same here...Had squeak when first installed...then did bedding procedure and still had some squeak, then did it again....no more squeak.
Only solution for those POS pads is to replace them with this cost effective option: BENDIX. Why have a 4200 lb, 425 hp+ street machine if it doesnt STOP as well as it did when stock?!?! "I don't wanna clean up the dust..." :crying: Should've bought an RT then. ***NOT trying to piss anyone off, but laziness and complacency in lieu of SAFETY performance pisses me off... and it'll piss you off too when you find yourself in a world of hurt when after spirited driving, your rocket car could have stopped 5, 10 feet sooner, but instead hit the car in front of you*** There's no truly legit excuse for buying these cheap, lesser-performing pads... especially when Bendix is out there.
I have EBC Yellowstuff ... they squeal a little .. they are $270 total and probably the best pads you can buy .. whats your excuse for that Jason? btw is your motor still blown (up)?
I have bedded them several times, the squealing goes away then returns when they cool back off it seems. Fun isnt it? lol No suck luck here. How much dust with the Bendix? Any noise? Yellows I heard are very harsh on the rotors.
Cool, motor still shot, working on the fix! *wink* The Bendix are basically Brembos but not branded with their name. I tended to notice a little less dust, but I can't say for certain, as I had my Chrome OEM wheels put on around the same time (polished chrome is likely less adhesive with dust than the stock wheels). The Bendix: no squeel at all. Stops just as good as the Brembos. Another option: the EBC's. They're good pads too!
Hey take them off and check the shims and put some more lube on the back of them and see if that works.
Did you re-use the stock shims? The posi-quiets don't require shims (but I can't remember if I re-used mine or not... never a squeak though.
The only time my posi-quiets squeal is right after it rains and a bit of surface rust forms on the rotors. After applying the brakes and the surface rust is gone, the squealing stops. Hope you get it figured out Tony.
I tried the Bendix brakes when my stock brakes were gone. The Bendix stopped great but squealed like a freight train when cold. I tried the bedding in process twice, that Dave recommended, and it didn't help. I finally switched to Posi Quiets and haven't heard a squeak since. These pads seem to stop just fine and as a bonus, they hardly make any dust.
What kind of lube? I did not use any lube when I installed them the first time on the shims. Do you lube the entire shim or avoid the area where the pistons touch the shims? The Posi came with there own shims. Thanks man, I rebedded them today again twice and still squealing there when they cool off. Stock rotors Rick. Did you put lube in back of the shims?
You want the lube to be in contact of the pistons of the caliper. Autoparts store should have the lube. Just ask them and get the high temp stuff. Like this.... Permatex 20353 Ultra Disc Brake Caliper Lube, 2 oz Tube with Nozzle
I just ordered this product from Permatex http://www.permatex.com/products/Au...tex_Ceramic_Extreme_Brake_Parts_Lubricant.htm Should this lube be used everytime pads are changed in back of the shims? My fronts dont have any lube on them but there not squealing at all.
I use it .. I'd get it from like Napa/Autozone/PepBoys Tony .. no need getting it shipped. My pads still squeal but whatever .. with that lube .. make sure you DO NOT get it on the area that touches the rotor .. and be careful cuz the shit gets everywhere so apply about a dime sized amount in the center and spread with your finger
