    Already made one :thongue2:

We put it on trojans ride and it fell on it's face. :eek:oh:

HAHAHAHA, the funny part was all I had here for filters that night were two crap ones that I did not clean properly at sac one time and I knew they were screwed, but thought we'd give it a shot. Welp it went to Techco for some dyno stuff. Long story short, Techco couldn't figure out why the Pratio was only hitting 1.4 and when Chris called me and told me what was happening on the dyno, I instantly knew!!. So they went back to the Techco unit and the pratio went right back to 1.6.

Anyhow, I now have 20 new filters in stock, that'll never happen again. :zorro:

Cam, I thought Bill said the Mopar TCM only works for the 05-06, and you'd need his for newer.

I don't know what to say. I know it did not even plug into Trojans 08 chally. But it did on Adams 09 and it worked. We just needed to adjust the rev limiter and train it. But there wasn't time, the track was to busy.

I know there is alot more than a tune here.....Tune, S/C, belts pulleys, gas...etc....lol
My reference was that a tune won't save the ring land from the boost made.
The 15 pound boost is way high for a stock piston, especially a stock 6.1 piston.

I have to ask so I don't mean to offend ya bud. You do understand why they bust right??.

First off, no argument that the pistons are weak.

Gotta make this short and sweet.

BUT, what happens is that with increased cylinder temps and pressure. The rings are end butting and flexing up and popping the top. So, increase the ring gap, decrease cylinder temps, piston more better gooder for longer.

    Ok, back to work. :bye:

Thanks for the props. I do want to clarify..this is a out of the box KB kit. I fabbed the ice box,did the install and tune because I wanted to run bigger injectors and push this thing. The kit is just as Jim and Ken designed it. I do have a great relationship with Jim Bell, Ken, Mike,Matt, and Tj and the rest of the KB crew. They have one helluva blower, and a great team. As for effieciency...the KB is the best hands down. There is NO competiton IMO.

piston more better gooder for longer.

    Ok, back to work. :bye:[/QUOTE]

HAHAHAHAH!! Sorry it was funny tho.

    Agreed....that is what I said.
The high cylinder pressure from that much boost will not give that piston land a long life.

I think Cam's sayin that the piston land could last longer than you think. I read Cam's book.

Welll..... I will agree the Chally is running 15psi on a stock block and diong a damn good job of it.
Seems like if I was going to go through the trouble of taking apart the block to re-gapping my rings...I would just buy a set of pistons in the process.
I bet our blocks aren't balanced when they are built. So you wouldn't have to worry about balancing.

I understand the importance of gapping rings. I have just a "little" experience. I have built 4 motors (by myself except for machining/balancing) in my far past... The engines started as a 327/375 (no FI) and a 396/375 Chev also a 340 Mopar, and a wicked 440 6-pack Mopar.. and none ended up with stock pistons (among other parts). I have participated in the build of several small and big block chevys and a few other mopars. All this took place in the late 60's and early 70's when gas was high octane/leaded and cheap plus parts were cheap and plentiful. AND computers did not exist (LOL).
    No brag....just fact (think resume)

As part of my builds, I studied and rsearched the ring gap min/max advantages throughly before I used the gap I wanted for "very hot street" (I was a street racer) and not high speed road courses or "dirt track" racing.. I lived in Memphis and companies like Lunati, Comp Cams and RHS (Racing Head Service) were there (still are) and very helpful. In those days you could walk right up to the door and talk tech.
I also know that today there is a slightly different thinking on ring gaps and rings are thinner.

It is just that I was workng with well made pistons and I was not worried about playing with ring-gap to save the top land of my piston. The 340 had 11.5 to 1 cc'd heads that rasied compression closer to 12 to 1. It required copper o-ringed gaskets to take the power. The 340's problem was cylinder walls were too close to everthing to have enoough area to hold back the cmpression. This is the failure that moved me on to the 440/6-pack.

    Doh...
I didn't mean the block itself....only the rotating assy inside.

What I find amazing is that someone can do this at all. My Vortech (installed and tuned by them) shit-canned my engine with only 8 lbs of boost, and I never even took it to the freakin track!

    *I ooze jealousy*

Think of how much fun I could've had for a spell, if I'd had 15lbs, and ended up the same way I am now!!!!! DAMIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IMO, I think your problem was the tune. I did my own V-3 install, and had it tuned elsewhere, (The tune that Vortech sent me, was pure CRAP!!)with no problems, so far. I'm loven it with 7 lbs of boost.

15 lbs of boost would be AWESOME!!!
