I noticed a few drops of stinky diff fluid in my garage coming from the center of the rear. Could this just be the gasket? I do have the 1000hp axle's. Could this be part of the prob? Would my local dealer cover this when they see the after market axle's?
The issue is that when the axles were installed, the seals were more than likely dented, thus causing the small leak. Who's axles did you go with? DSS or GSM? If it was GSM's, then the issue could also be that one of the axles is slipping in and out ever so slightly.
I have the GSM axles. What should i do now Ron? I am taking my SRT to the dealer on Wed. Think they'll notice the Viper half shafts?
Oh, they will notice the half shafts as GSM plasters stickers on them. Let me guess, it is the passenger side that has the leak? You have the OLD version shafts that do not have the inner clip on them. This clip keeps the shaft from moving in and out. It only moves about 2mm's, but is enough to cause a leak. My suggestion would be to get with Dan or Scott and inform them of this situation. GSM "Should" cover that at no charges?
Ron, I will be paying close attention to this, I maybe surprized, but I would think Dan or Scott will not answer the call, I hope I am wrong!
Well, no GSM stickers. It seems to be the passenger side but not sure. I gotta get under there and check it out. Maybe i should take some pics to share with our community. Dunno if i have the old or new version, i got the axle's in January if that helps.
Yea, I know. lol With GSM it is like the lottery. It was my understanding (when I was a good customer) that there were only a few of these old version shafts made, so with any luck, its just the seal.
Thanks Ron, so should i go forward with the dealer and see if they could cover it? I don't feel like driving all the way to Santa Fe Springs for this.
Well, since you don't go to the dealer until Wednesday, call GSM tomorrow and see if they will step up. Who installed the shafts? I am assuming you had GSM do the install?
Yes, GSM did the install. I forgot the dude's name but he told me he was the Mopar Drift Team Crew Chief. Dan was also there during the install but didn't do the actual install.
lol! Did you work there Ron? It seems you are very well informed about GSM. Dealer says it's the passenger side seal. It's gonna take one to two days to get her fixed. They didn't say nothing about the larger half shafts, so i guess were good to go.
Bummer C, it's really the luck of the draw now-a-days on the seals working or leaking. The last two sets I installed brand spanking fucking new with absoluetly zero damage were drippers. Fn mopar garbage. And these were on stock halfshafts.
haha Did not work there, rather spent tens of thousands there only to finally be crapped on. Glad it is the seal, but make sure you keep an eye on it for a few days to ensure the leak does not come back. If it does, it is the shaft itself.
Ya buddy, we're gonna dial it in, dropping the bump stick in, we'll make sure it's peeeeeeeeeeeerfect.
I'll do that Ron, Thanks I like how that sounds, can you say it again Cam? This time a little slower with a softer voice. lol!
Welp, took her to the dealer today and was promised it would be ready by the end of the day. Didn't happen, got the call about 2:00 pm with a pissed off service tech giving me a lecture on how performance mods and warranty don't mix and didn't want anything to do with it. Here's a pic of the service invoice. So as soon as i got home i decided to jack up the car and take a close look for my self. This is what i found. Look at my once beautiful Zoomers, there ruined. This is were all the shit is coming from. Notice how the axle is not properly seated against the diff. On a good note, i contacted Scott and told him about my problem and he said he would take care of it.
Glad Scott stepped up. Sorry you had to go through this though. I kind of had a feeling it was the clip issue. sigh
