The good news for Jason is that he does have a take home car, so parking it is not an issue.

Now I did not read every last word of this thread, but has this been confirmed that the ring land let go?

Also if there is enough force to shut the gap of a plug, I am fairly sure that means it can do other damage as well.

Additionally I am well aware that the likelihood of a failed ring land making it down stream to to the pan is slim to not at all.

I am not one to speculate here. The only info I have (as I have missed a large portion of this thread) was there was an issue, a plug is slammed shut, and people are suggesting temporary fixes. If there is confirmation it was the ringland, great! This still doesn't mean that there isn't other damage associated with it. We also do not know the overall condition of the motor and other pistons. We also do not know any other damage that is NOT associated with it.

The time and expense of "swapping a piston" to bandaid the problem when there could be other issues that would save Momo MORE hardships down the road, just does not weigh out as a wise decision.

I hate temporary fixes, and I hate giving people information on what to do without the full facts. Hence my questions, and hence my recommendations.

You have to read more of the thread Chris...

Momo saw a leak from the cooler
    Dealer fixed it
Momo noticed it was rough and "backfiring/popping a bit more than normal"
Mol rushed over Friday to pull plugs and found #5 was squashed

Thats all of it so far. Momo was supposed to call Vortech Monday to see what they say and warranty but was too "busy". So while we're all sitting around twiddling our thumbs, naturally, we're speculating. It's fun and educational at the same time.

ideal...not really, but maybe a means to get the car going if he needs it to be functioning to get around.

you mean our precious stock motors are not balance and blueprinted???? shocking!!! lol

i thought the same thing...... i have seen a few situations at my local dealer where pistons came apart due to the rings and it was then inside of the manifold that collected most of the debris....if it was not burned and in the cat!! lol

i just love the way you bullet point things dave!!! i heart you buddy!!!

The time and expense of swapping a piston is less than 8hrs labor and a piston/rod combo......and while you may not view this as a wise decision it is commonly done as a permanent fix (not a Band aid)which I am not suggesting. The permanent fix is a forged bottom end with rings gapped for boost.
Unfortunately we will see this over and over with people trying to run higher boost on stock pistons.

    Higher boost? any boost LOL

Honestly I never never seen ringlands blow apart as often as these motors do. I am completely amazed by the glass jaw the hemi's appear to have.

Shame on you, I think Momo is sensitive about his appearance.
