A little background. I have a customer that is currently running a Comp 268 and he wanted a camshaft tailored to his n2o setup. Well, we sent the cam out and awaited the dyno results. Typically with N2O specific cams, you give up some NA power in favor of more power while on the spray. Scott (The Customer) did not have any n2o with him, but below are the NA numbers off the spray. The N2O cam is in black and keep in mind, this is with stock heads also and that both the before and after were on the same dyno with the same tuner. Our cam was actually tuned a little richer. Comp 268: 415rwhp/410rwtq PPP N2O: 425rwhp/425rwtq As you can see, the gains were not only at peak, but across the entire RPM range. Not bad considering the Comp 268 was once considered the best all-around cam in the country.
Nice gains there guys!!!! How does the N20 grind compare to a Std series Stg3 cam? Can't wait to get my stuff on and to the dyno and track!!!! :thumb2: Nevermind, found the info in the other post: 220/228 561/563 113 6.1 N2O 2200-6200rpm <~~~ is that it? 224/228 566/564 113 6.1 Stage 3 2800-6500rpm Guess I should've read the cam thread first...
very cool andy!! scott called me today and told me about the swap and how great it did when tuned!!! i am looking forward to seeing scotty's beast run at zmax when i go up there with him!!!
the new cam should do better it has more duration and more lift not putting down either cam but the numbers speak for them selfs it what just depend what goal you want to achieve as to what cam to go with but i do like that it was an increase across the board
The cam was not designed to make more power NA, that was just a bonus. The cam will show its true colors once Scott sprays the car.
Just wanted to say thanks to Andy and Ed,This Cam pulls like a frieght train compaired to the 268.Not to take anything away from it.I ran consistant 12.30's with just that cam.Full weight at sea level..cant wait to hit the strip this weekend.Really hoping to beat my 11.24..I would also like to add that PPP's customer service was top notch. Andy even called me on Sunday after having a question with my install.. I will be spraying the car this weekend in Charlotte.I will have the car back on the dyno next week for some new spray numbers.Old numbers were 530hp/580tq..Stay tuned
andy not putting down the cam i thinks its awesome that it made more n/a and your right it should really pick up on the spray i would do a nitrouis cam also but it is rare that i use the spray i have more fun playing with out it but have it for that just in case moment
Well good news, Scott is at the track right now. Old NA Best: 12.34@113mph -500ft DA Old NA Best Corrected: [email protected] New NA Best: 12.33@114mph +1200ft DA New NA Best Corrected: [email protected] Thats a .23 and 3.03mph gain in swapping from the Comp 268 to our N2O Grind.
11.23 on juice,The only change was the cam.Again with the hot ass weather and the crappy D/A that is a definite gain in my book.My previous 11.24 was at-500 D/A Now I did get a 11.14 with a couple jet changes
and i had a front row seat for the 11.14!! i was sitting right behind scott in the burnout box when i watched him launch like a rocket!!! damn that car leaves hard!! btw - how do you know when you have lost badly.......... when you can read the time of the car you are racing before you even make it to the finish line!!!! yes, this happened to me tonight when scott sprayed each time we raced each other!! lol
Is Scott launching on bottle? I never have yet. This cam is very similar to the one I had custom ground for me over 2 years ago. Great cam, great under the curve power and comes on early.
Congrats on the 11.14 Scott. If the weather gods had co-operated this weekend, We'd be talking smack about your 10.9X in Charlotte!
