Things are going pretty good. I have my blood sugar pretty much stabilized and I'm averaging about 130 a day. My 1st day average with a meter was 400. I'm on 5 meds now. 2 for blood sugar, 1 for colestoral, 1 for blood pressure, and now one for nerve damage in my feet and legs. They are all very low dosages. My state of mind is much better. I hadn't had a real checkup for 21 years. I had really felt good until just before the holidays. I had 2 more appointments yesterday and don't have anymore till the 25th. The cardiologist said my heart was in great shape. Had a little thickening in the walls due to the high blood sugar making it work harder. Look at it as oil. Regular blood would be like a 0w10 oil. Mine would have been like a straight 50W. The eye doctor said my eyes where in great shape. No damage. Tested 20/20 and 20/30 with reading glasses. I have Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy (DPN) Diabetic Nerve Pain is the result of damage to your nerves. People with this disease who have high blood sugar levels over time often have Nerve Pain. The pain may feel like stabbing, tingling, or burning. It may cause unpleasant tingling and numbness as well. I still have my Kidney testing to go. That will finish up next month.
I was gonna give you a call today since I hadn't seen you around. Glad to hear you're doing better. You're going to SF right buddy?
Hal, Glad to hear the great news.. I pray that your health continues to improve and you have longevity..
He already HAS longevity. It's been icing on the cake for a long time now :towel: Let me know when you're going to be in town so we can do lunch or something.
Great news, Hal! Sucks about the neuropathy, but at least you know what it is and you're taking steps to keep it from getting worse. Just keep doing what you're doing!
glad to hear things are looking up for you Hal .. keep it up and good luck my friend!!! btw .. you still healthy enough to chase Cindy around the bedroom?? LOL! Take it easy man!
wow hal, glad you got checked up in time. this just goes to prove that people need to get their asses in for regular appointments.
Hal, good to hear the blood sugar is coming down. What was youe A1C count? I use you cinnamom when I brew my coffee in the morning, they say 1 1/2 oz. a day will help blood sugar levels. Take care.
Thanks everyone. I take Cinnamon 2 times a day. 1000MG X2. My A1C was 11.5 in January. My blood sugar was 397, cholesterol was 297, triglycerides 200. My blood averages 130 testing 3 times a day. So I'm less than 1/3 of what it was. Get the blood work done again in early April. A1C should be way down on the next one.
Glad to hear you are doing well and things are going well. This is great news! May your health get better and better everyday! Thanks for the update!
Hal.. I was diagnosed 3 years ago and it came on like a freight train.. and all due to my work habits (burning the candle at both ends and in the middle), stress,, not eating well or even right sometimes, or taking time out for me.. everyone else always comes first for the most part (not complaining because to me this is part of being a good husband, father, brother, friend etc)... except for the 4 or 5 weekends a year where i get to go play with my car.. I was on 3 different meds, two for blood sugar control, one for blood pressure and another for cholesterol.. I started to watch what I eat, cut back on soda's (went to diet,or Crystal Light), eat smaller meals more often and watch the carbs and try get in a little more exercise (not much but just a little more). Leave work at work and take more time for me.. In subsequent 6 months I went down to one med once a day and my blood sugars are in the high 100's to low teens... What scared the crap out me was the changes in my vision, especially at night. Did not even notice this until the sugars started to go down... thankfully the vision issue cleared up to where I was 10 years ago.. Follow you Dr advice and take care of yourself.. we will be pulling for you...
any improvement is good improvement big daddy! You gotta stick around for a really really long time...
Thanks again everyone. I really appreciate all the love and encouragement. Cindy's not going to let me go anywhere. I plan on being here along time. Ken, I was doing all the same things. Even in 04 being gone for 5 months without going home. Bad hours, bad eating, bad sleep, lots of stress, etc.
