We are now stocking the skip-shift eliminators, so if you are annoyed by the required 1-4 shift in your 6-speed Challenger, you can override that with this plug-in device.

    BMC Price: $18.88
    To order: BMC Performance

We have 12 on the way here (should arrive in time to ship out to you this week) so grab one while you can. We plan to always stock these, so will post up as we get more shipments as well.

    Thanks,
    Lisa.

Thanks Lisa... I just ordered one (Skip Shift Eliminator) a few hours ago... I come back to my computer and get a message... "It's Shipped"! Yikes, Way to go BMC Performance. It's my first order from you guys!

I just picked up my SRT Challenger 6-speed about two weeks ago, and I already hate that "1st to 4th Skip Shift"... I did a search on this forum that I have only been a member for less then a week and got results! I'm impressed!

The 6-Speed Challengers have what is called "Skip Shift" which forces you to shift from 1st to 4th at around 19 mph to save gas mileage. A solenoid opens and closes the shift gate shut on 2nd gear and 3rd gear. This eliminator takes that away. Its a small plug that you plug into the transmission.

I agree! You could be showing off your car, just driving along in first, people watching you.....you go to shift to second and BAM gotta go to fourth, ending up looking silly LOL

Some people believe it to be a safety issue depending on the situation where you need to shift.

wow, i did not realize the chally 6-speeds had this feauture. i know when i borrowed my buddies m6 gto, it would do similar things between 1-2 shift!! several times i looked like quite the ass trying to leave a stop light!!! lol

great product and looks very easy to install!! if i had a m6 chally, this would be on the must do list for sure!

B/W did that over 13 years on the T-56's that were going in Viper & Vette's. That trick little plug works wonders.

Thank You Mikey... I liked the way you explained it! And it's true, 1st to 4th makes one look pretty stupid (like you don't know how to shift) and I also find it a safety issue.

My 833 with the HURST shifter in my 65 cuda does not have that issue... Something to be "said" about the OLD stuff... (Before there were COMPUTERS!)

Ok, I just don't get it. I understand the part about it forcing you to go from 1st to 4th but I don't understand under what conditions. When do you get to use 2nd and 3rd and when don't you? Does it depend on engine load or something? Like if you have your foot in it you have 2nd and 3rd avaialable but if you are only under half throttle you have to go straight to 4th? or what

It is designed to help fuel economy by skipping the shift, when the car isn't WOT, but from what I understand, like anything electronic on these cars it kind of decides when it wants to work lol.

Dave, I hardly ever run into the "Skip Shift" mode, but I tend to drive more briskly since that's how I drive my 4 speed cuda. However, to get into the "Skip Shift 1st to 4th" mode, you need to be driving slow between the speeds of 19-23 mph in first gear just as you shift. Under any kind of harder acceleration the "Skip Shift" is not a factor. I've only run into it in slow traffic... but that's enough for me NOT to like it. In a few days, that 'event' will be history for my Chally!

So it's only on up-shift? Let's say you gradually take off in 1st, skip shift is engaged, you shift to 4th. Can you then down-shift into 2nd or 3rd?

In any event I know I wouldn't be able to deal with that. Skip-shift eliminator sounds like a must have item . You'd think they could have put an "off road" switch in to disable stuff like that. That's the whole point of a manual transmission right?

Oh yeah, you can down shift no problem... Like I said, it's just at a slow speed and shifting "from" 1st gear. Yes, for me, the Skip-shift Eliminator is a MUST have item. I like FULL control of what gear I am seeking. There are some things that I don't wish to have some damn computer decide for me... and that's one of them!!!!

Update: The "Skip Shift Eliminator" arrived today and was waiting for me when I got home from work (along with the Satisfied Pro Ceramic brake pads) from BMC. Took only a few minutes to install the Skip Shift Eliminator and so far it does seem to work. It plugs into the 6 speed tranny just slightly forward of the aluminum tranny cross member and about 8 inches up (near the top on the drivers side) then you plug the harness back into it. Very Easy, hardest part of the job is jacking up the car... but it was going up to get the front & rear brake pads installed as well. They also work great and no noticable brake dust as of yet. Yeah, it's been a rewarding night!

    Thanks BMC!
