I will probably be in the market for a GCSRT-8 in the next few months.... There are some MONSTER DEALS out there right now. :shifty: What year's model should I buy, and WHY? ...... Keep in mind, my Wife will be using this vehicle also, and she won't drive anything that "scares" her. :erm: That would mean any kind of forced induction, (overly) loud exhausts, etc.... (although, I'm sure, there is a correlation between "best year" and "upgradeable".... That's what I'm looking for, even if I'm not going to upgrade myself). I just want a nice Daily-Driver that is RELIABLE that we both could drive.... and NO, I'm NOT looking at 5.7 Hemi's.... I will only get a SRT in a Jeep. :smart: Just looking for a good year model..... I know there are some "experts" on here, so I hope to get a "desirable" year. I get tired of vehicles after a few years, and want the best chance at resale.

    .... Thanks in advance....

    MyGiG
    Upgraded black interior
    Tuning is already out
    Oem HID's (auto leveling)
    Smoother front end

And all the NEW features on the 08's over the previous years.....from wkjeeps.com

    EXTERIOR

    • High-intensity discharge (HID) headlamps
    • Integrated headlamps with park/turn lens
    • Refreshed front fascia and grille

    INTERIOR

    • Center console, cup holders and armrests
    • Four-gauge instrument cluster with LED illumination features black gauges surrounded with white pointers, silver accent field on Limited and Overland models

    • Heated first-and second-row seats
    • MyGIG Multimedia Infotainment System
    • Remote start
    • SIRIUS Backseat TV
    • Soft-touch on upper instrument panel
    • Tilt and telescoping steering column with integrated Electronic Vehicle Information Center controls on steering wheel
    • iPod interface
    • Eight-inch DVD screen with rear video entertainment system
    • 115V power outlet
    • Integrated second-row headrests
    • ParkView Rear Back-up Camera

The reason WHY i recommend an 08 over the 09 is because you can get one for a better deal and there were a FEW upgrades o the 09's over the 08 such as:
    INTERIOR
    • New Leather interior upgrades (upper door bolsters front and rear, I/P cluster brow)..........no big deal
    • 9" DVD screen replaces 8" screen......1 full inch!
    • New performance display screen in EVIC (longitudinal and lateral g-force, 0-60 mph acceleration time, 1/8-mile and 1/4-mile acceleration time, and speed and braking distance).......SICK....only thing i wish i had but my autometer gauge does the same thing and track times are more accurate
    • Surround sound confirmation in EVIC (w/Kicker audio).....only a confirmation
    • Full iPod integration into the audio system.......cool but who cares the MyGig holds 20gigs anyways
    • Enhanced voice-activated in-vehicle communications system.....don't use it anyways much
    • WiFi internet access (Mopar accessory)....DUMB
    • New shift knob cap with “Jeep†name........soooooo NOT a big deal

    EXTERIOR
    • Red brake calipers replace black calipers.........WOW

So all in all if i had to pick between an 08/09 right now it would be a hard choice cuz i'd go for an 09 cuz i always like to keep up with the Jones' BUT i would paint the red calipers and have to wait a long time for some decent tuning to become available........or go for an 08 cuz it will be a lot cheaper and have all the same features minus the performance center

If you mod it, watch out for the weak Transfer Case.
