Is it a chip? or a real live crack? Either one (but especially cracks) can continue over time. There are windshield repair places. Check those out first. You can also get find windshield repair kits in the auto parts stores but I don't know how easy or how well those work.

I think in CA that you can get an equipment violation for anything that can't be covered with a quarter.

Your Insurance should take care of the replacement. ANd it will not count against your premium.

It actually depends on what state you are in. For instance, that is not the case in MO. I replaced the windshield on the dodge caravan just about two months ago because of a crack. I thought the same thing and reported it to the insurance company. It wasn't covered and they gave me some numbers to call and get prices.

I had that happen a couple of years ago, And i know my insurance would not cover it. I called the insurance company and told them what happened, And asked could they help me with it someway. They paid half for me. Never hurts to ask.

Yup, Florida is one of a few states that will cover it...

That is not a State issue, that is an Insurance company issue. When I was with Farmers, I had to add the Windshield coverage. I think my premium went up $5 every 6 months. lol

But the majority of the major Insurance companies will offer a windshield replacement/repair coverage.
