Finally got around to installing my blue shorty plug wires and posting pics of the Cuda hood pins from Mancini Racing. The pins are functional and are just the first step to my Mr. Norm's clone..paint work and new bumper and rollpan on the way.

No pics in the snow...you know very well Keith that my little girl is a garage queen...sunny and dry days only. No snow pics but man I sure was tempted today to go for a drive.....I doubt much improvment with these wires but getting rid of the clutter and adding some color was more important. I ditched the NOS idea so shorties was ok for me. I've got a rollpan on the way and ready to paint and get it installed...then a front end conversion, then more paint work. Hoping it all gets done before show season but we will see. Some of it will be done for sure. Hope to see some of you all this year out there in the show fields!

New plug wires and hood pins Drilling the hood was a challenge. I needed to mark the underside by letting the hood drop a couple of times to make a dent in the underside and then remove the hood altogether and wrap towels around sawhorses and drill away. Mask off with masking tape and after you drill the underside....drop the hood again to mark the underside of the top layer of the hood to get a dimple to mark the next drill point. Use sharp drill bits and feel free to use a smaller bit for pilot holes first then work your way to a larger bit. Overall the hole size plus the angle of the hood when opening it requires a larger hole than the pin itself so approx. a 1 inch hole. This project required Valium and beer but it works. LOL
if possiable can you get a picture of the pins with the hood up? id like to see were you put the pins on the rad support. and what length cables do you got? yearone has 3 different lengths. and were did you fasten the cables to. :thanks:
new plug wires and hood pins I am posting the pic you asked for, you will need to get a turnbuckle (the large hex looking item in the pic....its cheap from home depot. This provides the extra height for the hood pin itself as it isnt tall enuf with our trucks in the stock pin setup. Also buy an extra bolt and crush washer for the under side to bolt into the bottom end of the turnbuckle, and I used this setup. for a tight matchup ..you can see in the pic. As for location, right between the 2 bolts on both sides .....worked great and matched up on both sides. The cables were stock length ...this is the Cuda hood pin kit from Mancini Racing...about 60-80 bucks depending where you get it. I've not measured the cable length themselves. As for where to mount the cable eye itself to the hood, I used one of the grille shell bolts on the back of the hood....undo the bolt and slip this eyelet behind it and it works out great. As for holding the hood up for shows, Tom (Dodge Cowboy, Red 6 cyl) gave me a hook from a gas station display hanger (genius) that I hook into the rad support and the other end into the hood pin hole, this holds the hood up enuf to see all the goodies but also prevents it from being all the way up and also prevents it from slamming down in wind at car shows.....kind of a neat addition. Paint work is coming next as I'm probably going to paint the hood partially black as well as the roof and an insert left to right top to bottom 3/4 on the tailgate in gloss black...kind of my version of the Mr. Norms Super truck. Roll pan gets painted this week. Also, Adam, CONGRATS on Norwalk! You deserved it man! Wish I would have been there in person to see yer win!
Thanks, Brian. i never thought of mounting the pins in between the bolts on the rad support. now i got to figure out how to mark the underside of a fiberglass hood....one of friends dads is gonna paint it for me hopefully mid march, he's paintin it in his garage and he wants it to come out nice so we gotta wait for it to warm up a bit still.
