New to the Jeep thingy, but have been drag racing for YEARS, just needed to know what you guys do as far as launching techniques for the Jeep SRT8. My plan is this: drive around water box,esp on,shallow stage, raise rmps up as far as converter allows and launch. Any better suggestions, as in esp on/off, is there any gains and if I deep stage with AWD, am I more likely to redlight? I have a **pretty good** reaction time with rwd cars, so I feel that with awd it'll be a bit better, just don't want to redlight, I've only done that once in over 1200 races... Also, Jeep is equipped with GYsupercar runflats, I got 1.87 60fts with these tires on my vette, would you drop or lower te psi for the jeep ( thoughts here are that with RFs, the sidewall doesn't flex much at all, so lowering may only cause more resistance at mid to high end of track, so should I raise the psi?)
This is how i get my best times. My Race wt is 5090 lbs and only have 2 mods. 1 - air pressure 39 in lf 40 in rf 36 in lr 35 in rr. 2 - leave at idle. 3 - take out rear lift lid,pull tarp and all floor matts as they weigh 20 lbs. 4 - 1/4 tank or less gas. 5 - put in manual mode in 1st gear and let it shifts itself. 6 - turn esp off. 7 - with all this my last time out i turned [email protected] with a 1.76 60' 8 - all this in the 1/8 mile at a DA of 1388ft got me 60' 1.76 ET 8.18 @ 83.72 mph.
I have tried it all diff ways and no it doesnt bog and the only way to tell if its pulling timing is data logging. I told a friend to leave at idle and he would get a better 60' as he was power breaking to 1500 and his 60' were 1.85 and after leaving at idle he went 1.79.
