Just finished up installing a couple of new gauges in preparation for some more upcoming mods to be done in the near future. For those of you looking to do this, small hands will make it easier!!! mine are not so small and doing some of the wiring was a bit of a pita!!!! all in all came out good!! did find a very convient place to tap into for my 12v power. i got out my volt tester and looked for a keyed hot wire from the large wire harness that runs down the a pillar on the drivers side. was very easy and made running the power wires a breeze!! just wish the sending unit wires were that easy!!! :crying:

the pillar pod came from rpmoutlet and the gauges from summit. the aem gauges are pretty straight forward and simple. not the most technically advanced, but for simple reading of the a/f and boost, they fit the bill nicely and at a very reasonable price. the fact they came with mulitple choices for faces plates and rings was a bonus.

btw - for you experts...... at wot the gauge reads a steady 13.1 - 13.2, but under part throttle and idle the gauge bounces all over between 14.0 - 15.5...... is this normal????

How come theres no boost in your boost gauge? LOL

    Very nice Chris.

I've got a 3 pod with wideband, N2O pressure, and fuel pressure.

That would be the pink/black wire (if I remember correctly)? You should have asked.

certinaly no expert, but should attempt a range centering 14.7 at part throttle (never actually stays there - back and forth) and you'd want it to be at 12.2-12.7 at WOT, depending on what your car likes and what sort of timing, gas, etc. anything in 13s is lean. Some say 12.5 is magic spot, some say a little leaner in spots. Good luck.

my part thottle is pretty much around the mid point of 14 and fluctuates....... 13.1 - 13.2 at wot..... this i am told is the optimum spot for our cars in the area i live for n/a vehicles.

I recently got this three gauge pillar pod set but I'll have to wait until a friend of mine that knows about these things to help me hook the UP!

    Great install Chris.

As for the bouncing around, yes, that is normal.

While at idle and part throttle the system fluctuates from closed to open loop. At least that is how it was explained to me.

Assuming the car is warmed up and everything you're almost always in "Cruise or Idle Mode" (it's a closed loop mode). WOT is open loop. Here's how your a/f is done and why it cycles in most closed loop modes. Below that are the modes themselves.

Nice gauges! The AEM Uego and Boost are two of my favorite.

As for the AFR's... 14.0-15.5 is normal, you will see this at idle and cruising around.

At WOT 13.1-13.2 would be considered extremely lean on a boosted vehicle and dangerous. Max AFR should be 12.5 and leaving no room for error. Anything past 12.5 is considered dangerous. 11.6-11.9 is safe on pump gas, 12.0-12.5 is safe on race gas.

thats a boosted application, on a stock car the pcm will actually shoot for a 13.0-14.5, making good power all while still being economical

jesus - thanks and yeah, the sled is still n/a right now, so 13.1 - 13.2 is right on the money. after everything else is done, it will need to be tuned!!! thanks for the input!
