Since Arrington Engines seems to be the only machining and manufacturer putting together the 440cid (selling it to other vendors) has any one actually bought this unit and run it on the track??

According to the specs on the lx form it has less bore than the 426. But it's the stroke that is increased.

Arrington sells the 440cid with their heads its basically a package, since no one else machines one,......do you know if this one had their heads??

I didn't figure they were actually building the block. But it is a 440 and we will be able to see how it performs.

Isn't HHP also advertising a 440 block? Seems like I saw it a few months back. They are with BES so an Arrington block would be odd from them.

Rod ratio? I still dont think that motors going to be safe.

true steve but they hit 11.8 at 120 on street tires. with some slicks its going low 11's easy. But your right I hit 11.7 at 120 ujokin did the same as well. it was also the first time they brought the car to the track and the guy driving wasnt the owner. there is much room to imporve in that car.

Isn't the RDP 1000HP Challenger built around the 440?

I'm on street tires!!......and I spin them as well. My tune is only a third attempt data log. Not even close to final. I'll admit the Jeep will never out MPH the LX platform in close ET vehicles. Also....mine is a daily driver.

Over a year ago I was going to get HHP's 440 but they were still working out some issues with the crank so I ended up with a 426. If I had gobs of money and not worried about having a daily driver on top of being a weekend track star... I may entertain the thought of going to a 440. But given there are notoriously few 440's out there should speak for itself that there are still things that need to be worked out.

PS: Arringtons 440 barely makes more HP then my 426.

I think the walls between the cylinders are too thin for a long lasting engine. If it uses "sleved" cylinders, which is a pain to do and expensive, otherwise the walls are paper thin.
Definately not worth the 14 cubes to be bigger than a 426. You can't tell me HP gain capablilties will be that great unless you are going well in the boost realm and even then it will be negilble gain.

Only a brag point to me...."mine is bigger than yours".
And the repsonse would be "size doesn't matter it is how you use what you got".

I think i would rather have the 426 and be able to sleep at night......like Ujokn2 said, the 426 makes just about the same horse, and it can be drivn on street or track

When I see it idle.......pull away and do 8-10 miles....idle.....WOT and then idle...and idle......I'll believe it, otherwise hold on to your wallets!!! You wont find a "bail out" on one of those...lol!!!!! Those of us that have been down the 426 learning curve know EXACTLY what I am talking about!

I was talking to someone who had seen a 440 short block at Stack Performance and the pistons actually exit the cylinder bore almost to the bottom ring land according to this person. Now thats scary!!!!!

Ok Nathan - A fewthings from the Arrington thread :

They are using a small bore than the typical 4.08 that a lot fo teh true 426 cars are using. They are using a custom crank that is basically a small jornal offset ground of the 426 crank for the extra cubes, so cylinder walls being thin is not the case ( any more than the 426 or 392 motors would be.

They should be torquie out of the hole but I think the rod ratio will hold those motors back until we get a raised deck replacment/race block and can get the ratios back to a happy place for these motors.
