You've got to see it on the car...275's look alot bigger in person and look sooooo much better than the 245's, especially on the front. The 245's just don't look right on a 9" rim IMO.

275/40 is very big next to a 245/40. The 275/45 will not have as much tread width compared to rhe 275/40 and is a litle taller and it will be hard to lower your car.
However the 275/45 does fill the wheel well better on a stock height.

i have about 7-10,000 miles left on the stock RSA'S and 275/40/20 will be my next tire size.

Buds pics are of the 275/40 not the 275/45. The 275/40 is almost the same OD as a 245/45 so they dont mess with the odometer and they fit just fine.

im just wondering how a 275/40/20 is wider than a 275/45/20. 275 is the width 45/40 is the aspect ratio (in other words in case of the 275/40 the side wall height is 40%as tall as the tire is wide or 40% of 275. the only difference between the two would be the height of the tire)at least thats what i was tought

Definately 275/40/20! I have 255/45/20 in front and 275/45/20 for the rears. Wishing I would have gotten 275/40's all the way around cuz 45's are a little to tall for me and
40's would have been perfect. Mrjoelcool is right about it being 40% of the width. So those 275/40's would be close to stock tire height.

Def, if you look at those pix I posted from my track day and look at the big close up one of my car coming at you you'll see the pass side front wheel pretty good from a slight angle. Notice how the rim sticks out WAY farther than the tire, and I was just BARELY turning to the left there! The tire is not wide enough for the rim, plain and simple, hell no wonder most everyone "rashes" a rim or two!! 275s are next for me for sure.

Yep, almost dead on with regards to overall diameter.

    stock 245/45/20's = 28.68" overall diameter with a 4.34" sidewall height & a 9.64" width.
    stock 255/45/20's = 29.03" overall diameter with a 4.51" sidewall height & a 10.03" width.

    275/40/20's = 28.66" overall diameter with a 4.33" sidewall height, a 10.82" width & speedo is ~1.3% too FAST, i.e. actual 60 mph = 60.7mph on speedo.

    275/45/20's = 29.74" overall diameter with a 4.87" sidewall height, a 10.82" width & speedo is ~2.5% too SLOW, i.e. actual 60mph = 58.5mph on speedo

Putting the 275/40's on the front are almost an exact diameter and sidewall height replacement with the stock 245's (with the obvious exception of width).

The 275/40's out back only drop the OD a third of an inch and the sidewall height drops by less than 2-tenths.
