well I went to grab lunch yesterday and my power steering pump blew on the way .. as of right now I have no power steering at all and man is it a bitch with a car this big and heavy .. dealership is going to take it in next Tuesday :censored: so I will be parking for car and driving my truck .. the rack was replaced on the car at around 15k, the pump blew around 30k, now the car has 48k on it .. so now this will be the second power steering pump they dealership will be putting on the car ... has anyone else had issues like these .. am I not steering my car correctly ha
I'm going on #5 right now. But I know what caused mine to blow. Everyone of them was high RPM and high pressure from racing or burn out comps. \ What the hell were you doing when it blew??. BTW what happens is there is a high pressure O-ring between the pump and the output shaft, when it gets hot, if flattens out and then the shaft seal cannot contain the presssure and she spews at the shaft.
Anthony, I have had two replaced as well. Be glad yours failed while near home. BOTH times mine failed, I was in Phoenix (450 miles) and SoCal (900) miles. Yea, I had to drive home from both places. hahaha
5 1/2 years, 77,400 miles, several trips down the 1320, a couple of auto-x's and an underdrive pulley....and I'm still on my original. Guess they just don't make like they used to....
I was driving down the street (straight run) about 40mph .. car was only running for a couple mins so it was still cold .. i got this wicked whine and vibration and then it blew .. theres a pretty bad grinding noise now, the power steering fluid is dark and cloudy also which isnt a good sign. haha I bet that wasnt fun .. its not bad when your moving but parallel parking in the city .. forget it haha
yeah im sure this is coming lol.... i have already had an issue with the seal on mine is there a better than OEM one that we can get that wont shit the bed? lol
So when they look at you funny you tell them it's a full blown race car and they don't have power steering to save on weight... oh... and it must have been tough exerting all that energy every 5 or 6 hours
