...And I'm finally posting about it. Last Month I finally broke into the 12's. I always hear about the East Coast cars doing it either stock, or with just a Predator and now I can say it's possible in Chicago. It was perfect air, mid 50's, and an awesome track prep. Here's my mods: SRT8 T-stat Mopar CAI Predator with canned 93 tune and STOCK SHIFT POINTS 255 Toyo Proxes 4 @ 26psi I was pretty excited to see my first 12.92, but to back it up with a 12.88 was great. Here's the thing, I would have gone faster had their not have been a 15mph head wind!!! I could've gotten in the 12.6-7 range as is evident by my MPH. I should've been ~110mph. Not that 108 is bad. The 6.0 GTO was pissed when I beat him (12.80 and feel asleep at the line) His friend had a stock SRT8 just like mine with RSA's and couldn't get out of the 14's!!!! I tried to tell him NOT to do a burn out, turn off ESP, and keep it in first with auto-stick and just let it shift at the redline. He didn't want to listen. He then asks me what mods I have and told him it was just a tune and CAI for the most part. The GTO guy then said "You just have a factory freak." haha....whatever dude.
Run this by me one more time...You stage with the Auto Stick in first and then let the transmission do the shifting ????
Congrats on your time. I am looking to better my 12.8 that I ran last year about this time when I go to the track on 11/22 here in Georgia. (SDR in Reynolds, GA) New mods added and a tune finally on the car so I should do better. I also stage in Autostick and let the tranny shift down the track and that is what I will be doing next Saturday.
It's very important to put it in 1st in auto-stick mode and just let the tranny shift at redline. If you just put it in "D" and get a little wheel spin it could potentially shift you into 2nd prematurely. If you hook off the line it won't matter, but I'd rather a little wheel spin and stay in first, than get wheel spin and shift into 2nd. P.S. Mine's an early '06, so I needed the TSB to get the upshift feature for auto-stick. Make sure you have that.
Where's the part of the story where you drunk dialed JMatt in jubilation after a day of racing? Congrats again my friend!
