What's up fellas? I just took a job offer near San Luis Obispo, California.
I'll will be there for about two months at the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant.
    Start date: Jan. 13
Anyone near there? Where would be a good place to stay(motel, hotel, appt.)? I'm going to enjoy spending those months in California, and I'll be in the Jeep!

    Thanks for the help.

Skye hit up Jim383 I spoke with him last night and he has tons of info for you on that city he lives about 1.5 hours from there, from what he said there is not much there to do and was a very expensive town. The closest bigger town would be Santa Barbara. I did come across this
http://www.sanluisobispocounty.com/ looks like you can do some really nice coastal driving along 1 or 110. I would take a weekend and drive down to L.A. or meet up with the many members that live within a few hours in either direction

    List of places to stay:

Oh you are SOOOO going to love San Luis Obispo. Beautiful country there.

As Wade stated, the best place to stay would be Santa Barbara. While on your days off, I HIGHLY recommend that you take the drive North on HWY 1. Go all the way to Monterey.

What route are you going to take out to California? If driving of course. If you are passing through Albuquerque, let me know when. We can do a quick visit.

We stayed in Monterey YEARS ago for a few months (back when Clint Eastwood was Mayor-LOL) we took that scenic drive and it still fresh in memory. I'm jealous Skye if you have a job opening in your field let me know. If you do go to Monterey check our fishermans Warf and heck make the treck a little further north and see China Town

Well..I've got two things to add...

1st, Cali is in the West section, not the southwest. You might get more responses there :thumb:

2nd, I will be moving to Ventura County (close to Santa Barbara) in December. I'll let you know how it is out there....:thumb2:

Cool, let me know if you around when I'm there.

Thanks for the heads up! I could have sworn I put it in the right section.
Yea, let me know whe you are up there.

I've been to china town and the warf with I was like 15. It was cool, but china town was waaaay too crowded for me.

Wade, you would do absolutely great in my field. If you are serious, I could make it happen. Check out www.yourpriority.com that who I work for primarily (American Maintenance Engineering Services). For real, send me a PM if you wanna do it. You will be away from home for six months a year though..that's the downside.

I booked a Rm and the Econolodge in Morrow Bay, which is a 17 mile commute down HWY 1. It's going to be great.

When I was working in San Luis, I've stayed at the Madonna Inn, but usually stayed in Shell Beach or Pismo Beach. Lots of hotels there. Even stayed in Paso Robles. Lots of great vinyards there.

Do you work at Diablo Canyon?

I like a good Cab-Sav, but I can get breatholized at work so the vinyard would be something I'll stay away from...LOL

Cool, that sounds fun. I'm going to be working some pretty heavy hours but I bet we could work something out.

Well, I spend the last few Januarys in MN or Iowa...so this will be a welcome change...
