Some people seem to have short-term memory loss and I just don't want anyone to forget that 9/11 was not our first run in with al-Qaeda and people blame Bush 2 for not getting Osama bin Laden. 1993 World Trade Center bombing 1998 United States embassy bombings at the United States embassies in the East African capital cities of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and Nairobi, Kenya. 2000 attack on the USS Cole in Yemen The Intel on the Iraq war was not the first time we got bad info and reacted on it. In response to the bombings, U.S. President Bill Clinton ordered Operation Infinite Reach, a series of cruise missile strikes on targets in Sudan and Afghanistan on August 20, 1998, announcing the planned strike in a prime time address on American television. In Sudan, the missiles destroyed the Al-Shifa pharmaceutical plant, where 50% of Sudan's medications for both people and animals were manufactured. The Clinton Administration claimed that there was ample evidence to prove that the plant produced chemical weapons, but a thorough investigation after the missile strikes revealed that the intelligence was unreliable.
I have very close friends dying from their exposures to "things". These "things" are the by-products of destroying caches of WMDs. WMDs, the DEMs want everyone to believe never existed. Those of us that served, know. Those of us that know, voted Republican. Those of us that know, are scared that more shit is going to happen. Those of us that know, don't compare "protecting us" to "stealing our civil liberties". Those of us that know, are affraid that Obama's "CHANGE" will only hurt Americans. Be careful what you wish for... :usflag:
911 Commission Report CIA - President Bush we have very clear intelligence suggesting that a terrorist attack is immenent. President Bush - OK, you covered your ass. I know my history. Read what Bush knew. Find out what he did and said with that knowledge and you'll be even more pissed. http://www.gpoaccess.gov/911/index.html
yup, i can see how that went and have read over parts of the report. i can visualize him reading that and saying to himself....ok...where the fuck are they going to strike? when are they planning to? what sort of reaction plan do i have? thats fucking right, there was nothing done because no president before him had anything planned for a terrorist strike of that magnitude. i do blame clinton for having no balls, but i also blame bush sr.
So given the info...a terroist attack may happen we dont know how or where what would you have doen as president Pre- 9/11?
our nature is to react, not act on anything. look at the bullshit our troops have to be put through. let them shoot at you first, but not just in the general area. wait until you hear the bullets zinging past your head....yeah, then you can return fire.... we are the aggressors now, and what has happened to our civilians? oh, thats right, not a damn thing since 9/11.
Followed up on the reliable data that planes would be used in the attack and not used the words "OK you covered your ass".
How did we deviate from the thread topic just to bash President Bush? And it wasnt President Bush who was responsible for this whole attack. Look at Immo's post. Beyond that, the CIA doesn't exactly patrol the streets looking for suspicous people. It was a lack of communication from the CIA to local authorities. If there had been some information shared, it could have been different. If local police knew that there was an imminent threat, there may have been an elevated amount of alertness leading to the capture of these terrorists. And about the whole "no terrorist attacks since 9/11".... there have been more than 350 terrorist attacks since that day. Just none of significant magnitude to grab the press's attention. On to the thread itself.... Its bad news.
