OK my buddy just bought the agp wga and was wondering what to do next. He already has the needswings dp. Its a toss up between wideband or stage 1 pcm. What should he do next? His car is an 04. Eventually he will get both, but right now he only has the money for one of the 2.
lol... AEM F/IC.. or diablo predator.. no need for a stage 1, when you can get a tuner for the same price.. but if those are his only choices... (not very much of a choice) go with stage 1.. wideband is nothing without tuning. he shouldn't adjust WGA unless he has wideband though.
I was going to suggest the predator also...I hear their canned tune gives better number than I got with my Stage 1, plus you can re-tune as you upgrade.
Wideband. Thats what he needs since he is raising the boost. Stage 1 ECU's go for around $250 + or - on srtforums. Is that how much the diablo thing is?
Diablo is actually more then the Stage 1 PCM (used) but the Diablo is a flash tuning device which is a lot better then the plug n play Stage 1 PCM. Diablo has the option to raise the rev limit, fan control, timing percentages and fuel percentages, etc. I bought my Stage 1 new from the dealership way over a year ago and it cost me $520. Used they are going for around $250 or so now. Stage 1 is mainly for not getting CEL's. The performance gains are minimal 10hp/10tq. Reason I went with Stage 1 is because I was running an aftermarket wga and got sick of the Overboost codes. So really it comes down to... Wideband to make sure AFR's are safe if boost is raised Stage 1 if boost is raised and the owner doesn't want to throw codes
I think Oxsmith so a huge gain with his Stage 1.. or that could of been someone else. So What proven gains are there with the Diablo on a bone stock SRT-4?
A lot more then just dropping in an S1 kit (PCM and injectors) on a stock SRT-4. Diablo is PCM flashing so anything can be controlled (timing, fuel, etc) via whatever tune is written. More info on the Diablo can be found here: http://www.srtconnection.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10434
Yea we both plan on getting a diablo eventually... But he just purchased the wga and dose plan on uping the boost levels. When do 04's throw boost codes? i heard there not as bad as the 05's when it comes to that. But yea he is planning on spending $250 so..... its either wide band or stage 1. I know the diablos are good but there alot more then $250.
well if he plans on getting a diablo eventually.... have him get the wideband.. a stage 1 is USELESS if hes gonna get a diablo.
ok.... Can u still use a stage 1 on the diablo? or would u need to go back to stage 0? i have stage 1 on my car, and Im looking into getting the Diablo
Plus if you get a $250 PCM and then you have to take it to the dealer or send it off to get reflashed with your Vin# so it'll work properly and that can go from around$60-80 plus shipping if you send it off to Flightsystems or around $100 if you take it to the dealer. even there it puts it close to the Pred's price range.
Diablo works with all the PCM's. So yes he can still use a S1 PCM with the Diablo. http://www.srtconnection.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10434
but like i said.. no point to have both.. its just wasting like 330-350$... like nevin said, you buy a S1 PCM for 250$ but then its like 100$ to get it flashed for your vin.. putting you aruond 350$. the diablo is less than 400$ shipped. just get the wideband, cuz then you can CMR tune the diablo using wideband, or user tune it and have a wideband to go off of.
Whats it cost for the caned tunes? would u think a diablo would be better for me over the H-brace and traction bars and some wider tires. Since my biggest problem is hooking up. Or with the Diablo will i be able to boost by gear and be good from a dig or slow roll?
Be smart with it man. if you choose to increase boost, make sure you get a wideband to monitor the AFR's.
