Hey folks! If anyone has any experience with hydraulic systems, I'd appreciate a few minutes of your time. I have a project in mind, and it requires a 12VDC hydraulic rig. I'm looking for a small, but powerful, low-cycle pump. Something like 100+psi, but shoebox-or-smaller size. Cylinders I have covered (I think). There's a nice custom shop in Cleveland that will make them for me. Reservoir will be custom fabricated by me, along with the fluid lines. Any help would be appreciated. TIA
Kevan, it has been over 15 years since I have worked on Hydro's, which is why I never replied. Your best bet is to call a local Farm Equipment repair place. The pumps I am used to are larger than a shoe box. haha
I have tons of experience with hydraulic systems....but they are generally on aircraft....And the pumps are WAAAAAY bigger then a shoebox.
Heh heh....kinda funny considering one of my baseline specs comes from an A320. How about sources for pumps? Sometimes folks that make the biggies also make smaller versions.
haha Fenner is exactly what I used to use on my lowrider. Matter of fact, was the exact ones show on your link. The reservoir could be custom made for your need Kevan? But Fenner is probably the most reliable pump on the market. IMO
Thanks guys! The Fenner is great, but......WAY overkill for this project. 3000 PSI? You'd think I'm lifting a truck or something. I need it closer to 200 PSI....500 PSI max. The other thing is that I need a double-acting system. I'm not entirely thrilled about that, but I can't rely on gravity in this case. Reservoir size is not important. I will be fabricating my own.
Hey now... And yes, this was my old Lowrider from the 90's... Any hydraulic system for a vehicle will be multi functional. The come with dump gates...
Sort of, they are a black box that the Hydraulic lines lead in and out of as well as the solinoid wiring to produce the magnetic pulse. http://www.catalog.prohopper.com/product_info.php?cPath=34&products_id=98
What about using something like an electric water pump or an electric fuel pump? Aside from checking the seals to make sure they're compatible with hyd. fluid with water pumps, I think either of these might work. The big boy fuel pumps go up to 300 psi, but they're also $1K or more (Weldon sure does make pretty stuff...heh heh). I'm down in the Aeromotive range.....right around 100 psi. Anyone hate the idea?
Kevan, How about the motor that runs an Electric Step on a motorhome? Maybe a Hydraulic system for a Tommy Gate?
