New Camaro Discussion

OK everyone, just had a thought. Now that the new Camaro is coming out, how long do you think it will be before we see a Trans Am/Firebird variant? Also, do you think the Trans Am/Firebird variant will be based off the Camaro platform (as usually done in the past) or off the new Pontiac G8 platform? I've always liked the syling of T/A's better than Camaro's, with the exception of the late '60's and early '70's models.

So, what do you think? :friends:

 

Is the Camaro platform different from G8? I thought they were the same. But maybe I am mistaken. Their V6 for sure will be better than the Chally. Time for those Phoenix engings to see the light of day...

Good question Jason. Considering GM will not bring out the Z28 version of the Camaro, I think a TA platform might be a bit of a reach. The Firebird, on the other hand could find its way to market?

 

I'd like to see a T/A based on the new Camaro, other than gen 1, Pontiac has always come out on top in the styling dept.

 

I'd like to see a TA also. I don't mind the styling of the Camaro but the interior is hideous imo.

 

from what ive heard (buzz around the community) a TA will be offered. i will wait another year.

The camaro's looks do nothing for me...but thats just a personal thing

IMO the new camaro looks great... And if it ends up with a 500+ hp engine and it's proposed 3700 lb weight, it'll be a monster for sure!

 

GM was too late to the party. Economy tanke and oil spiked and MPG concerns shot through the roof before their lame asses could get a product to market.

Camaro is a non-starter.

Always been a huge fan of the T/A's.... and T & A...Lol! If that came out, I think it would possibly be the only car I would ever even think about trading my car for.

My dad just ordered the new SS Camaro on Monday .. hes absolutely pumped!

I wouldnt expect Pontiac to follow with the G8 and GTO .. If they do, not till like 2011

 

I like that look.

im still a fan of the camero, and i too dont like the interior they chosen to go in it.
but i would say another year or so till pontiac bird comes out.

 

Hopefully soon...I always lprefered the Firebird looks over the Camaro.

 

We had a Vega GT when I was a kid; Orange with white rally stripes! That was totally 70s. Anyway, I went home for lunch, and on the way back I passed a new Camaro. It was black with Michigan manufacturers plates. It looked pretty cool, but it is in the same catagory as the Challenger for me, I won't trade my Charger for it. Also, I couldn't tell what model the Camaro was, but it damn sure looks WIDE.

Now maybe I could talk the wife into one of those Mr. Norm's 900hp Challengers, It sure would look good next to the Charger in my garage. Hmm...

 

I`m confused???? I agree that the new SS will be pretty sweet....my cousin in dallas is waiting to order the SS with the 6 speed and it`s supposed to be 422HP. The part i`m confused about is that the state fair is going on in dallas right now and thats where my cousin went to the CAMARO SHOW. They had 3 diff models.....V6...300HP, V8 422HP with brembos, and the Z28 Camaro with 8 piston brembos and 538 HP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you go to the website all you can see is the SS-422HP......no Z28WTF!!!!!! I called my cus and he went back to the fair and asked the Chevy REP about the Z28 znd he said that it will be built and available in about 10 months. I like the interior, but where`s the NAV, it is 2009 ya know!

 

The last rumor I heard was the Z28 was canceled.
