OK we all know traction sux for the neon. What can I do to minimize spin. I spun so bad last night I lost to a freaking G8 gt. And now im pissed!! I have cheap tires on. I was thinking drag radials, and a motor mounts. Any other suggestions.

solid mounts, solid lca bushings, and good tires. you don't need dr's really, just a good set of regular tires. cheap tires = accidents.

what do u mean by that? and yea that would help out alot im sure. Wrather then putting down 17psi in first gear. What about the Bwoody H braces? and i want drag radials. I have general exclaims on, there a good tire there not extreamly expensive but.... they work for me.

drag radials for the street, or for the track?

i've never been a fan of drag radials.. no point to have them on the street, and misewell carry a set of slicks to the track.

to be honest, i do alot of street racing, so a set of tires that will hook up like drag radials would be best. I break my tires loose in 2nd gear running around town, a set of 2 drag raidals would be cheaper then 4 new expensive regualr tires I would just burn off.

well, i was un-aware that you were teh fast N furiOus wanna B.

i think you should push 150shot, start double clutching, and get some real wide slicks.. :stars:

for your street racing ricer needs, theres a ton of great traction utlra high performance tires that are actually meant to be driven on daily and will last more than a few weeks

how do you plan on burning your rear tires off doing the street racing? with your AWD donuts?

and rolling around on drag radials on a daily basis, you are gonna need to replace tires ALL THE TIME..

FUCK U!! I m not talking about rolling around all the time, im saying when the time calls. Which is like every other weekend. I believe your car looks more like the fast and furious wanna be!!!

I know there is other things out there besides tires, and taht was the main input i was wondering. I can figure tires out my self.

I didn't want your smart ass remarks to lame ass movie u obvoulsy get off to!!

buy getting a dtec boost control u can set them up for different boost settings in different gears like 10 psi in first gear and 15 in 2ed and so on im running a 50 trim and i only spin alittle in first gear and none in 2ed with street tires so i love doing dig runs

get both cause the track bars gets rid of wheel hop and saves your axles

17lbs isn't that much, if you're launching properly you shouldn't really have that much of an issue. i still say that tires are going to be your most important aspect, and i agree with everyone else here that dr's are a waste of time. you'll still spin on dr's, and it only cuts the 60' down by .1s, maybe .2 if you get a good launch. yes that's good, but that's also times on a preped track. on the street they don't really make a whole lot of difference.

invest in a GOOD street tire. like a eagle f1 or something of the sort. good tires, good traction, and you can drive on them in the rain.

the h bars seem to work well for people. i personally never used them, never saw the need as i don't have traction problems since the only time i race is at the track on slicks. which is the only place anyone should be racing. not trying to be an ass, but street racing is truly retarded and not worth the risk. i'm guilty myself of doing a highway pull with friends, but that's all i would ever do. and i'm not racing from a stop so there's no issue with burning my tires out (even though i don't get traction until 4th so it does burn a little lol).

boost by gear is the greatest thing ever and will help you out significantly. limiting boost in first and somewhat in second is great and helps with traction, both on the street and at the track.

i will say again though...i don't condone street racing at all. it's stupid. take it to the track.

    lol.. silly ricer..

yeah, and i told you DRs are retarded for the street. to get rid of the traction problrem get slicks for when you go to the track.

when the time calls?!?!?! what a homo.. some kid in a civic talks shit or something, so ya gotta prove yourself to him on the streets.. are you 17?

maybe you just suck at launching? before you just go and be a credit card tuner and buy everything for your car to fit in to the street racer crowd, learn how to launch better before you go spend 2000$ on parts to increase your mad street CRED yO.

dtech and braces to a completely different thing for the car, to most people that would be obvious, but it seems you just like to be spoonfed by everyone instead of doing any research. :p

get some good tires, go to the track.. work on launching.. you will actually be able to SEE if your getting better by time slips, not how many car lengths ahead of your local mustang at the next light.

if your having issues with alot of spinning, go with a dtec unit to control at least 1st gear boost.

if your still having issues tie everything in with one of the braces to prevent wheel hop and spinning.

first thing i would do before ANY of it is get some motor mount inserts at the least, because judging by your first post, you don't have them yet. they are very cheap (inserts) and help a noticeable amount.

so, back to spoon feeding, here is my recommendation.

dunno what rims you got, but i have 17x8, and the 235 wide tire really helped. i will be upgrading to a 255 after these ones are gone

first: solid motor and trans mounts, or at least inserts.
second: get some GOOD street tires like the F1s or similar. (wider is better)

after the first two steps, go to the track one weekend, try different launching techniques, see how low you can get your 60' time and see how everything else improves (1/8, 1/4, mph)

if your still not satisfied, THEN proceed to step 3,4,5,6,7,8....

three: boost by gear, at least lower boost in first gear to prevent the spinning, see if your 60' improves and how it affects everything else.
    four: the braces
five: wider rims and wider tires
six: take off your turbo, wont have any traction problems then.

Alright everyone lets keep this thread on track and civil. The back and fourth ends here.

    As for traction...
-Better tires is one key ingredient. KDW's (stock tires) will get you no where.
-Motor mount inserts will help a little... while solids (solid motor mounts) will help but if you can't stand the horrid vibration then don't get them and go with the motor mount inserts.
-Bwoody H-brace with traction bars. Its a great combo, I've been wanting to get it for my car but haven't yet. I have though driven an SRT-4 with them and they make a big difference! I was impressed.

Boost by gear is nice and all and there's other ways of getting/using such feature with other devices out there in the market. I prefer the Apexi AVC-R.

i was actually suprised when i got my srt how crappy the kdws were, even with the stock power and the LSD. i seemed to grip better in my boosted tib from a dig then i did with the srt when it was stock. i also didn't have an LSD in my tiburon.

i think i can attribute most of it to having a bigger turbo, and lower boost though.

good call on the AVC-R, forgot about that lil guy. theres also the profec spec-II b or w/e by greddy. i was running an e-01 programmer/EBC in my tiburon, but then you have to have the emanage and it gets pricey.

also with ya on the solid mounts. i machined solid mounts for my tib, and while it did the job, the vibration was too much for a DD and my ass. the inserts or poly replacements (if srts have that option) are really nice also. best of both worlds IMO. feels alot more solid, but doesn't vibrate you out of the car.

Car will more then likely bog... atleast I would think it would.

On street tires people launch anywhere from 1.5k-2k rpms and you feather the clutch.

You have to learn to work the gas and clutch for your initial launch. You smash that gas pedal it will be nothing but spin.

yea i figured that one out. But if the car was boggy at first, but came out of it quickly wouldn't that be better. I will have to try it and compare the 2 i guess. But would that be extreamly hard on the clutch?
