I've read all I can and still dont have the answer I am looking for. I want the same braking as OEM but no dust. Is there a set out there? Thanks claude.
Unfortunately, this is the truth. Stopping fast is more important than going fast (or having clean wheels)... especially when you have a big car that moves like the SRTs. EBC yellows are known to be a great alternative to stock pads... Some say 10% less dust and they grip very well. I, along with Bud, installed Bendix pads. We both initially felt that more pressure was needed to get the same braking... We'll have to wait and see... But one thing I have noticed is about a 10% reduction in brake dust ... Yes, same decrease as in the EBC pads... I should see Rick today and we'll discuss this in depth. Story developing... LOL
Sorry Claude, but Adam and (I can't believe I am saying this), Jason are correct. You will not find a pad that gives the stopping power like OEM without the dust.
My comparison is based on this: I changed my OEM pads to Posi Quiets before I went out of town for the wife (indicators started squeaking the night before leaving). Got back from the trip, ordered the Bendix pads. The front pads came in first, so I installed them. It immediately felt like the OEM braking ability (once bedded). A few days later the rear pads came in. I installed and bedded them. The peddle pressure seemed to firm up a bit more than before installing the rears and a bit more than I remember the OEM's doing. I probably need to ask someone if I should add some brake fluid or change it since I have 48k miles on my car and have never touched it. May be part of the problem huh? LOL
OK, when compared to PQ's the Bendix have way more grip? & the Bendix compared to oem, it's to close to call at this point? TIA.
Yellowstuffs will give you the best braking performance while giving slightly less dust. The EBC reds will give you similar performance and almost no dust. Personally I will never go back to stock pads, I drive too much and can't stand the dust..and the Redstuffs work fine for me on the track I was outbraking just about anyone on the course w/ the Red's on with no fade. My instructor had a stock 6.1L Charger, and he went out with me driving my car and then him in his car back to back, and there was no noticable difference seen in braking performance on the track.
OK I did the Bendix pads and have had them on for about 5,000 miles they to me feel just like the OEM's. And since I have no plan's to trade the Magnum for a V6 lol. I was trying to figure things out. I still want the same OEM braking but alot less dust. I drive 100 miles a day so the dust is a pain lol. Anyone try the new Hawks HPS. I have heard not from anyone using them that they stop like OEM's but have less brake dust?
I tried the Yellows and the rear pads would not shut up. I took them off and now I have yellows on the front and Posi quiets on the rear. (What a combo) I'll be getting the Bendix in the next week or so since I've heard good things and I know they have killer pricing.
I ordered mine from "autobarn.com"(Bendix Mkd592A Disc Brake Pad) and off of "amazon.com"(Bendix Mkd1149 Disc Brake Pad). I paid $109 to the door. They would have been $101 but I opted for quicker shipping on one of the orders. BTW, I did a three hour spirited driving trip from Eastlake to I-8 via hwy 94 today (all mountain). The Bendix performed "exactly" as I remember the stock one behaving.
six runs of 60mph to 10mph hard braking. Drive around without braking to cool for five minutes and repeat process. The area where Jason beat me by a car length works great.
Drew, with your tires and their treadwear rating hovering somewhere around 800, you may opt to do some 0-20's, lest you skid off the road on your cueballs. Rick... nice backhand btw... you related to Agassi?!?!
One thing to consider is ABS, once you engage it the car's gonna stop as fast as it's gonna stop no matter what pads are on it.
