Ok, so I have been experiencing a delayed throttle release for sometime now, and both DynoSteve and myself have been a little stumped as to why. Well I finally got around to doing some checks that Steve had suggested and some I look at on my own. Here is what I found... Throttle Body needed some SERIOUS cleaning. lol Sprayed some Carb Cleaner in and around the butterfly and spent 15 minutes or so moving the BF to full open and close... Lots of garbage came out of the hinge area. Next I looked at the gasket. It probably needs to be replaced (TB has been off and on several times due to a couple engine replacements, lol). Took a diaper and sprayed it with Carb Cleaner and cleaned around gasket and TB mounting surface. Next was the AIT. WTF? I discovered that the protection plastic that surrounds the sensor itself had been broken and glued back in place. Looking further, the sensor itself had a broken contact. WTF? Needless to say I will now have to replace the AIT. FUCK! Now, I know I did NOT break the AIT sensor. That leaves one other shop. Oh well, I am on my own on this one. lol The finale... TWO, yes TWO of the TB bolts are stripped. I am talking the threads that are inside the Intake Manifold. WTF? The good news is it is the first 4 threads soI think I can fix that by getting longer bolts?. Put everything back together and it appears that the delayed throttle is fixed? Guess I will know better when I can get some open (no traffic) roadway to really let her loose. It only happens at WOT during 1,2, and 3 gears. You know, kind of like the old sticking wide open throttle. haha Scary stuff. Now maybe I can get Steve my datalogs so we can really get this baby tuned.
lmao I have a new one. hahahahaha Combination of things Steve. Oil blow by from the blower, New Mexico sand that blows through glass (lol), TB not sealed correctly (dirt build up around TB gasket as a good indicator). She seems to be running very well now, but I am more concerned about the broken AIT sensor. The AIT sends messages to the PCM for the timing tables and once fixed, "Could" advance my timing too much. Good thing I have Steve to assist me with that when the time comes.
ron that will make a drastic change if the iat sensor was going into default mode, timing will be retarded and extra fuel will be getting put in as well
YOU SAID "RETARTED" AND "RON" IN THE SAME SENTENCE.........FUNNY STUFF RIGHT THERE..........J/K RON U DA MAN:worthy::worthy:
A DashHawk would have probably told you about the AIT, or the fancier and deluxe DashDaq which would also replace your other gauges. In hindsight but they may be a hepful mod. One nice thing is you can swap them between vehicles.
You might want to do a top engine clean too. With all that gunk you found on the outside, who knws what's in the inside.
That is what I was afraid of. Thanks Mate. I will be at the dealership tomorrow ordering a new one. bwahahahahahahahahahahahaha Joke? shit it's TRUE! <dribble dribble> lmao no worries Steve, GG is spot on. hahaha Bob, the gunk is what I found on the inside. lol The outside just needs a nice cleaning, but to do it right, I need to remove all of the blower stuff. hehe
I will be very impressed if that fixes it Ron...........Cause it still does it on my old ride and I had none of those issues.........happens to Chad too.......but Mike managed to fix the problem at WOT.....now there is only a little at partial load part throttle.
lol Hell I would take that over the WOT. haha So far so good though, but now I have to wait until I get a new AIT Sensor.
