I saw something this morning on a forum that's extremely dangerous, not only to the owner but to other drivers on the road (myself included). Here's the twist: On that particular forum, I've been --><-- that close to being banned for helping out other members. There's even been repeated berating from the Admin. Do I say something and risk banning? Do I not say anything and hope that the guy doesn't hurt/kill himself or anyone else?
Depends on how much you like the person LOL!!! if someones in danger....you should do the right thing....you always have a forum home here if they cant deal with you trying to help someone.... just state that your posting up because of a potentially threatening situation to a fellow member... if they are gonna ban you they are just looking for a reason why anyway....might as well be for a good one....
Deductive reasoning, especially as it relates to the safety and well being of others and you could find yourself being banned? Bizarre. Why would anyone want to be part of that forum? Mutiny is in order or you should get out. Any other members that advocate the behaviour are as insensitive/immature as the moderator...IMO that forum will probably eventually self destuct.
It has. Their vendor list is now shorter than the basketball hoop in Verne Troyer's driveway. It just feels odd....like a lady slapping a firefighter across the face for saving her baby from a burning building. All the members posted "Looks awesome!!!", including the vendor who sold him the parts/kit. Sad that I'm fearful of helping and actually have to post questions like this.
is there a reason you dont want to do it through PM?..or is it a he will run to the mods who will be mad anyway? i am guessing you dont wanan get into what the situation is lol
The reason I'd post publicly is to help OTHER members & lurkers NOT make the same mistake this guy did. It would not be a berating post (I'm not the Admin there...LOL). I would simply state that he's going to have major problems if he doesn't correct what's wrong. Here's the picture. See if you can find the problem.
Kevan, That is a HUGE safety issue. You certainly should warn the OP about the danger involved there. WOW! If you are BANNED, then don't sweat it, at least you will sleep well at night knowing you did the right thing.
(as a test to see if Ron really is worthy of Maureen....heh heh) What do you see that's wrong in that picture?
two at least... 1) the solenoid being mounted next to the batter AND Master Cylinder. 2) the wiring coming out of the extension tube which will more than likely rub through the coating and short out.
*sigh* It's the braided line coming from the master cylinder to the line lock. Note the 180º bend that 'folds' the brake line in half (sidewalls bulging at the fold). The line lock solenoid mounting is fine. I mean, hell, that's my bracket design!
Kevan i will post exactly what you want I don't care about my membership on said forum!? Just PM me your post and i will post it.
lol That's braided line? The picture is blurry to me and looks like wiring. hahahaha I am not talking about the mount. I am talking the location. Solenoids are notorious for overheating and a potential of catching fire. Next to the battery, IMO, is not a good location.
Keith- I posted. I think the Admin is still asleep, but the members and OP have said thanks. I'm sure the banning will come soon enough. Ron- the pic isn't exactly Herb Ritts, very true. The solenoid pictured is for the line lock, so it's not being used long enough to heat up and catch fire (well, it shouldn't be, but human stupidity knows no bounds). The bracket holds the solenoid about 8" away from the battery. The perspective of the pic is deceiving. It's not really all that close.
Yea, after a little more observation, I realized the deception. haha That immediate 180* bend is bad bad bad...
Kevin are you talking about the top line were it looks like it splits at the yellow thingy...picture hard to see................and dont worry about banning over there...
Yes. It looks like the line splits, but it doesn't. That's just the lighting. The kink in that braided line is dangerous and needs to be fixed. The OP stated he was going to re-do it with a hard line instead as the braided ones were just a little too short. The spin that I'm waiting for is that I bad-mouthed a site vendor over there. Even more shenanigans this morning.... - As we know, rotors for the SRT-10's are NOT easy to come by. 15" rotors scare many people, including shipping folks! Last week when I posted a link to Zeckhausen's site in an attempt to help a member out who was asking about rotor options. I was threatened with a banning from the site owner as I was linking to non-site vendors and taking business away from the ONE vendor remaining on the site who (re-)sells ONE brand of rotors. Today I saw a thread about brake rotors and decided to check it out. The ONE vendor who carries the ONE brand of rotors actually posted to contact Zeckhausen (though HORRIBLY misspelled his name....probably on purpose, but I don't know for sure). 2 hours later, the vendor's post is gone from the thread. WTF?!?!?
Can't believe an Admin gur-ru would ban someone for making a safety statement.... if that's the case, then seems like maybe that's not the best Forum to be on. At least you can hang out more here....Lol!
I actually noticed that just as I clicked on the "submit reply" button...just too lazy to fix......
