Srt8 intake manifold....some insight please?

you can port it. I know BJB or chad has a sick sheet metal one that cost a pretty penny

Wilson manifolds made some for somebody But I forget who..

 

if your keeping the stock one I would suggest extrude hone....talk to Steve!

unless money is not an object, get with steve (stanko) and talk to him about a ported and honed manifold.

 

PPP and HHP both sell a ported and polished SRT8 intake manifold. HHP's intake is $795 as I just bought one myself.

 

They are only ported.

Arron, either purchase a port matched unit or do it yourself. Take the plenuim plate off and remove all the ruff castings from around the runners. Then have Steve extrude hone it. The extrude hone process will not remove the casting ridges inside around the runners.


BTW, Inertia, HHP and PPP will port it for ya. So if you have any of their heads, your golden for the template. If you don't, make one and send it to the porter. Most guys port match to the manifold gasket. Inertia is the only one that doesn't. Also make sure they under cut it at least .050 to allow for variances and not create a ridge.

Sheetmetal

That short runner sheetmetal manifold is beautiful.....but wont work for crap on the street or on our existing 6.1 engines. A short runner sheetmetal manifold will work great from 4000rpm to 7000rpm. If you have the engine and ignition to support it!

The long runner sheetmetal manifold is a design copy of the stock manifold however it has a smaller plenum......it will work in our RPM range of the street strip HEMI.

I guarantee unless Hogan prices have gone down since I was dragging my 604Yates Ford those are $2,500-$3,000 per copy. Unless you have money to burn or just want the "show and shine" its the way to go.....otherwise the stock manifold will outperform these on a street/strip machine. On an all out trailered race car that can spin 7000+rpm (like a Chevy) you will want that sheetmetal manifold.

Also, do not ever port a 6.1 manifold port runner to the size of the gasket! At that point.......its a great paper weight. The design is bellmouth and is similar to the FAST or factory Chevy design. Knock down the injector boss....port it symetrically but make the port NO BIGGER than the size of the stock head port.....which is already too big.

In a few days a new customer of mine will post independent results of his recent swap of the Mondello heads and manifold for his Indy heads and manifold .......he installed the Mondello heads with his old "ported" (gasket matched) manifold with surprizing results, in a few days I will ship him one of mine.
