It would be nice but from the ones I have been on in the past it was, to me, a waste of time. The kind of questions we have would lead them answer questions that do not fall within Chrysler/SRT guidelines you know the ones we REALLY would like the answers to and most of the time some of the members knew more about a particular subject than the SRT Tech/Engineer did. I also get a creepy feeling knowing big brother is monitoring our forums and reporting back as to what were up to, mods etc...

I'm sure big brother is watcjing us anyways... I spoke with a SRT Engineer in person once and this would sum up the conversation, "people want us to tell them how to push their engines to the limits and then have us honor the warranty that was set forth when the car left the factory".

    He made a valid point.

I totally understand their position so that is why I think it would be a waste of times on both parts as the majority on here would only want to pick their brains for answers on the exact thing.

IDK, it seems like if they really wanted them here, all they would have to do is ask? :dunno2:

Its like they have a lawyer standing over there shoulder approving every answer before they respond.

I ask a simple question on the catch can issue and can't get a straight answer. I know it impacts the emissions system but still.

    SRT Engineer Chat =

We would love to have them here doing a Q&A, however they have an ongoing agreement with the forums. Yes, we have asked.

No worries guys, the Engineers do visit this forum. Often.

it sucks because they're in a bad position when it comes to helping us with stuff. if they were to really give us any of the answers we want they'd almost literally have to void our warranties on the spot. like srt8 hmi said, they make a good point. it's a tough call on their part, and I'm sure being srt engineer they really WANT to answer the Q's but legally can't. from what I saw though it's a nice way to ask questions about stuff like the csrt stg1 to the ppl who design it, you know?

haha, anyone actually think the srt engineers know more about these engines than the guys who work on them day in and day out? i think we are privileged to have the "actual" engineers, the master techs here on our forum.

the only engineers ive spoken to whether it be hp, cisco, bull, ibm, etc, all dont know a damn thing more than i or the rest of the community that actually work on their products do. i have to teach these hp engineers what their workstations do and are able to do and what they cant most of the time....

The last few SRT Chat sessions on the other boards were a joke. People were starting to get a little ornery over non answers to legit questions. It seems that the way they dealt with it was to not tell the LX crowd until the last second that they were having a chat on the Caliber board.

    Wast of time IMO.

I will probly read them from now on for entertainment but will not participate. It'll just piss me off to get ignored or brushed aside with a flippant non answer.

That question is the one they will NEVER talk about....future products! At least that's been my experience in the 3 or 4 I've been in.

Heh, I was at least 2 of the above . R&D and not support. I couldn't work the CLI and I couldn't configure a whole system, but I could tell you a lot that you didn't know about very specific portions of the internals like particular limits, table sizes, default settings, etc. because I wrote them. You're talking to the support engineers. You have to go through a layer or two of engineers to get to those guys. You may never have talked to a R&D engineer. I know that in 20 years I only talked directly to 1 customer. I don't know if these are the primary development engineers. Probably not.

Even so, you're right about them not being able to answer most of the questions we're interested in. At the least, they'd get fired.
