Folks. I don't have the means to accomplish this right now, but what product would you recommend for going forged? What would you expect to pay? And what kind of psi could I push? *also where would I get a smaller pulley, etc.

Basically, walk me through this process.

I wouldnt run to much of a smaller pulley due to we are running about 72% efficiency from what Vortech and I talked about. You can but the heat vs power gained might not be as happy ;) I would step to the T trim and run about 12 psi or so if you forged the bottom end. Now you can do rods and pistons, or you could do a stroker kit. I have heard prices from about 2100 to well how much did you have ;)

There are a LOT of variables to that question. At the minimum, you need rods, pistons, rings, and rod bearings. That's if you're putting everything on your current motor. There are many companies to choose components from and price varies on what components you choose.

Short blocks are obviously going to be more. HHP has a forged 6.1 blower motor for $3700. If you're going to stroke or bore/stroke the motor obviously the price goes up from there.

You should talk to Vortech about the smaller pulley. If you're going to raise the boost significantly, you'll want to upgrade to a larger head unit (different trim) to keep the blower efficient at making boost.

    Jason,

CMW built mine over a year ago. No issues and the price was reasonable. Call Scott.

I get the same run around every time I ask ANYONE about what it entails. For so many gear heads, is willing to give a "hypothetical" A-Z of what the process would be and about how much it would cost (including) install. I keep seeing the "give us a call" response. This is a discussion forum right...well lets discuss it! If we ALL knew it than how fun would it be to not being able to feed your egos? Lets start with my motor. Stock 6.1, 43k miles, forged for 10-15 lbs of boost, say 560 rwhp, daily driver. Would you buy a 6.1 forged longblock, or forge my existing bottom end. What would the cost difference be?

Thanks for the fast replies folks!

You all know me well enough, what would you all suggest? I'm no frills, just the basics that will make her sick fast and solid reliable without costing my first born to lose his college fund.

Btw if Lisa isn't shitting me... I'll have one of those state of Florida stickers you see on RVs on Precious' trunk!!!

What if Lisa and Vortech were to do a combined r&d?!?!

In your case, the big difference in cost will be labor. I don't know the book on changing out pistons, but I'm willing to bet that its more than pulling the motor and replacing with a prepped long block.

If you can do the work yourself, then pistons/rods are cheaper than a short or long block.

Then with 43k miles getting the long block would make more sense...since I'd be basically starting over mileage wise on the motor? Hmmm....long block, blower, and half shafts. I've got to find somewhere to do this for under 15k....installed!

I'm sure you could get a screaming good deal if you buy it all from a single vendor...like HHP or maybe Inertia for all the motor stuff.

    Inertia 392 rotating assembly - $3500
    HHP 6.1 forged short block - $3700

    There's 2 options.

I'll give Scotty a call. He treated me really well when I visited him. I know your motor is good!

I know....something about this topic that we can't get a price without checking out websites or calling people.

    EDIT: THANKS ADAM!!
