Ok Gang, You know how you just know what is normal for your rig? Like you know how your wife is going to react when she finds out about the money you spent on the last mod!?!?!? Well, the last few times out around the back-roads test track something is different with the Jeep. 1.) When going WOT from a standstill with traction off, it will burn the crap out of the back tires now. Any time before it would bark and go, but never just burn them till I got off the throttle. 2.) It now barks the tires between 1-2 with traction control "on" and it never did it before even with traction off. 3.) I got the back end to break loose around a curve with it in 2nd gear. I have 315/275 Toyo Proxy ST's that only have about 8k miles on them. I feel like all of a sudden I'm driving a Charger and not a Jeep. I have heads/cam/headers w/B&G N20 tune and all of this above is happening without the NOS...What's up and why the sudden change???
How is the weather in Tennessee? I ask because a 15 - 20* drop in temps will turn these animals into Monsters. Only thing I can think of.
Still pretty feakin hot. Between 85-90* and very humid the last 3-4 days thanks to Gustav. One thing I did think of was I unloaded the B&G N20 tune and loaded the "emissions" tune to try to make it thru the test and have since reloaded the N20 tune. Would/could the tune have been adapted better of something?
Are you spinning ONE tire or BOTH???? You need to verify that. If its ONE tire in 1st and 2nd that is common when the traction control is whacked. I had that situation before....but it was one rear tire spinning.
I will go check, as I can not be absolutely sure. What did you have to do to fix the "whacked out" traction control?
How many miles do you have on her? I have herd of some of the LX's "coming to life" after a few 1000 miles or so....
What happened to "0-60 in 4.6 seconds...wet or dry"?....I have drove several jeeps and have never been able to even squeek a tire?..
I disconnected the battery cable for about 2 hours today. It has been raining all day so I have not gotten out. Jeep is too clean for the big day tomorrow. I'm going to a big forum race (Tennesspeed.net) at Beech Bend Raceway in Bowling Green, KY in the morning so I will get many passes to see how it is running. Got 2 full bottles of N20 in the garage and will be packing all my stuff tonight. I'll let everyone know how it goes. Couple of TBSS's and Lightnings have called me out for races. There is one GT 500 I want a piece of also.
It would be nice if we had a parameter that allowed us to view the power distribution to each wheel or front / back axle to see how our rigs are transferring power and how quick and responsive it behaves.
I also have Heads,Cam, Headers, CMR tune and 125 shot of NOS and can't do what your explaining, sounds to me like the tune swap is not engaging the front tires and putting all the power to the rear which would explain the roasting tires and chirping 2nd especially with our 3:73 gears.
Update... Resetting the adaptives did the trick. Headed out yesterday morning and played "try to spin the tires" and all was back to normal. Had a fun day at the track. Bunch of car people admiring each others rides and basically lining up as many times as you wanted over a 5 hour period. Weather was perfect almost cool and infact too cool for my piece of crap Zex bottle non-warmer. I could barely keep the N20 in the "green" zone and so some passes were not great. Best pass of the day was 11.893 @ 112.41 with a 1.637 60'. All 12 passes were between that and 12.3xx at 108. Here is a link to some pics. http://www.tennesspeed.net/forums/showthread.php?t=47394 Good pic of my Jeep on third thread page. Pic of the GT500 on first thread page. Scary part of the day when a brand new 08 GT500 Shelby Cobra dropped some kind of fluid from the motor at the 1/8 and the guy glanced the left wall and then shot across the track in front of the Vette he was running and went head-on into the other wall at close to 100 mph. Guy walked away shaken up but the car is completely totaled. He said he still owed close to $50K on the ride! Two GT-R's showed up. Nissan's North American HQ is here so they have been all over the roads around here for months but this was the first time I had seen one race. They are freakin fast! 11.4xx @ 125 or so all day and they almost don't make a sound, it is weird.
Glad all is normalized now. Awesome day at the track. WOW! Sucks about the Shelby though. Glad the driver is ok. The car can be replaced.
Do yourself a favor, get the dynotune bottle heater or the nano system. Your inconsistant days will be over
That was the saddest thing about Sat...my new Dynotune bottle heater was sitting on my office desk because I have not have time to install it!!! That will change soon. Cool season is on the way...bring on that fall air!
