Does anyone have their cars insured for what they've spent on it? Do you have to tell the insurance company you've modified the engine? Do rates go up for more horsepower? I have lots of questions with very few answers.
My insurance co. does cover me for all of my aftermarket mods. I am not 100% on the motor work. But my wheels, painting, aftermarket add-ons, etc. are all covered if the car is stolen, wrecked, damaged, etc. I had to document with invoices/bill of sale and pictures, for there files. I have to update with them everytime I add a mod, but it is worth it in the end knowing all of my parts will be covered. My Super Bee was recently t-boned and is at the repair shop now. I just received my check for all the aftermarket parts that have to be replaced. They did not even question the parts since they have them on file and see that I am not trying to get extra money out of them.
i use to have progressive and they covered all my aftermarket stuff even my custom system that was stollen. i now has USAA and zero complaints about coverage.
Did they insure your aftermarket parts on a standard policy or was it something you added to your policy?
i never asked them to add my aftermarket part to my policy. they just covered it on my standard full coverage policy.
i had no complaints about progressive but i swiched to USAA because the price i paid on one car i now have coverage on 3 and still have almost the same coverage just a few changes for the better.
I was paying $1400 every 6mos. for full coverage on 2 jeep grand chreokees, a jeep commander, and my charger. Progressive only covers up to $1,000 of aftermarket parts on a standard policy, I should have known this when i wrecked my Daytona. They can go up to $5,000 if you specify what you have purchased. The premium only went up $11 a month. I'm hoping I can help someone out before it's too late. I am already fucked out of alot of the money I spent.
ive had usaa for the last 10 or so years. while they are cheap, their repairs are as well. they always make you go with used factory parts and not new. this is how they save you money. if you talk to any body shop, they will tell you that usaa is the biggest pita to work with. repairs and repair authorization take forever as well. its cheap and full coverage on all my parts for all my cars, so yeah, i still stick with them....though the friends i have that have allstate say its 10x better....just more expensive.
i got 1200 from progressive for my system. 4-12in subs, 3 custom boxes, and 2 amps but i like my insureance. i pay 200 mo. for full coverage on the Skittle, Cruiser and Mustang back when i had progressive i paid 170 just for the skittle.
Aaaah didnt see that. that problay why i got more. i brough in recepts for what i had boughten and provide pics of what it looked like in the car.
