Mike/or anyone who's tested it out - I'm planning a trip from San Diego to Houston for the family and after doing the math it's going to be much cheaper to drive the pig rather than fly and rent a car. What type of improvement to fuel economy can one expect during highway driving? I'm thinking 1-2 miles per gallon??

The new 9r07 tunes should be as good as it gets for mileage, I would not be surprised to see a gain of 1-2 MPG at least...

Hey Wade, I got 18(17.9) MPG from Hico to Waco (about an hour of driving on some pretty hilly roads.) with the 9r07 tune from diablo. That was at 70mph too. I couldn't get that at 65 on a flat road before.

Some guys are claiming 2-3 mpg gain but I think that's with the 5.7s.

What's the cost if you rented a Ford Focus here and drove it there and back?

I would be about 150 a week plus gas. It came out to about the same as if I drove my car. But, I get the creature comforts of my car...and I get to drive my car. There is family and friends I want to show the car as well.

Just in case you re-visit the airlines don't overlook all the friggin extra baggage charges. It'll cost you half again as much as the ticket to get a couple of extra bags there....

We were going to use two of my sisters Southwest Airlines travel advantage tickets for free. A ticket for my daughter will cost $800. Then we have to kennel the dog (no dogs SW airlines), rent a car, pay for gas...yadda, yadda. And then I did the travel times. Getting to the airport, waiting for the flight, flight time, renting a car in Dallas, driving to Abilene = 10 hours. Driving from SD to Abilene 20 hours! We're driving!

I averaged 23.7 mpg on the way back from Oxnard today, even with traffic and the AC on. Started my average when I got on the interstate.

if Rick catches sight of a long straight and the family is napping, he'll end up breaking his 3 hour jerkoff record!
