There are no 6 speeds out there, YET! But im sure we will find out real soon if the auto or manual is faster. Edmunds=:ban: with those time WTF?!?
Is that what he means, auto vs. man? Or just 6 gears vs. 5? For auto vs. man in the past a manual would usually post better times cause auto trannys sucked and you could squeeze every last drop of power out of a motor with a manual. Nowadays, especially with paddle shifters, auto trannys are more performance oriented and will actually go up to the redline as well as shift quicker. If he's talking 6 gears vs. 5 then that's an interesting one. 6 would keep the car in it's power band better HOWEVER ... you're gonna be shifting more and losing more time that way. I'd say if the tranny was an auto 6 would be better, if a manual 5. Imo.
My best 0-60 so far is 4.27 and that is a slo feed out the hole so I dont spin as much. With good grip who knows. I expect most of you are doing atleast that. So whats with these Challangers?
I feel totally uncompelled to explain a very simple question. There ARE 6 speeds out there and road tests are showing up and isn't that what this thread is about? One tester said the 6 speed MANUAL is faster than the 5 speed automatic. I am asking if anyone yet has any experience along these lines. I did not ask for opinions, as such, just knowledge based on hands-on experiences, please. The new version of the 5.7 with the 6 speed is looking like one Hell of a deal compared to the SRT prices and my guess is the 5.7 manual would come fairly close to the 6.1 auto but I have no experience and ask for details from those that do. I am asking about bone stock cars, please. thnx!
