I've been part of, or the Admin for, several online forums for more than a decade, and I've seen tons of stuff go on. Most of it is good, but there's the occasional bad. In some instances, a member feels the need to leave a forum. That's fine, and we all understand that change happens. Here are some tips if you plan to leave a forum: - DO NOT DELETE YOUR POSTS!!! Not only is it classless and incredibly selfish, but it also screws up threads (sometimes beyond recognition). If it's a serious issue (family, health, etc.), I understand the deletion of that particular post/thread, but don't delete ALL of your threads/posts. - Don't do the "I'm Leaving" thread. It's either a cry for pity, or an attempt at slamming the Admin. In either case, it's a waste of time, effort, and bandwidth. PM those close to you to let them know you're leaving. Much easier. - Don't change your photo hosting. I get the whole 'spite' thing, but again this just causes more problems inside threads. If you have specific (i.e. personal) pics that you no longer want up, that's fine, but the rest need to stay. Rookie Admins- don't delete a member's posts from your forum. Most forum software offers a "Hide" option or something similar. Use that instead of true deletion. MANY members eventually return and will wish that they hadn't asked you to delete all their stuff. There's no need for 'good bye' thread or going nutty with the EDIT button. Just walk...err....click away, and we all move on. Thanks.
I had an "I'm done with the 'C' post" once, it was a cry for pity though.. I'll dig it up for you. I learned not to post while heavily intoxicated.
I'm guilty of doing the mass deletion thing...decided just bailing is best... Still in terms of a certain red site, I have no guilt about deleting all my pics and a number of posts before bailing. Makes me ill that the rat bastard that owns the site makes money off my pictures, but I call a troll a troll and I get censured instead of the troll... :chair:

The red site sucked air to some degree pretty much from the get-go:nuke:.....I amuse myself by going back there every 60 days or so and reaffirming why my absence was/is the right choice. Takes me about 4 minutes to read some portion of about 3-4 threads and my justification meter is pegged......
Back in December after being annoyed by post whoring. Albeit I was liquored up, I decided to go back and read every post I had to date (550 at the time). I then started deleting EVERY post that didn't have any valuable content. When it was all said and done, I had two (2) posts! LOL
Actually, out of respect for the signature that Milan had made for me I ended up keeping the minimum required posts to display a sig...I think it was two or three. LOL
Was that about the same time you got all hard assed moderator and started whacking Jason's posts too? :grin:
you and me both brother!!! i hate that site...... sad part is, it used to be pretty decent "back in the day". hell that is where i pilaged many of the people we have here after ron started the district......lol that had to make you feel good about yoursef rick!!!!
