I finally picked up my car from Vortech last week. I've been waiting for my dyno graph to post this thread, but its not here yet and I want to show it off anyway. I know that I pulled in the neighborhood of 470 on Vortech's Mustang dyno. They had recently taken a stock motor Vortech car to a dyno jet so I have some comparison. The stock motor car pulled 434 at Vortech and 500 RWHP on a DynoJet. So I should be somewhere in the neighborhood of 540-550 with Vortech's conservative tune! They had some trouble with my knock sensors pulling timing, which had happened the last time my car was dyno tuned too. So last night, my tune file went to the guy that had previously tuned my car and taken care of the false knock. I have to mention that my Vortech kit is CUSTOM and not the production kit. Vortech wanted to play with a heads/cam car and I was fortunate that mine was it. My kit has a few extras on it. Some they did and some I requested. First off, it has a slightly smaller pulley so I'm seeing about 7.5 lbs. of boost. The production kit comes with a 6 lb. pulley combo. In addition, I asked that they add a second cooler to my car and eliminate the aftercooler reservoir. This keeps the drivers front fender well clear for moving the filter down there. I'm still working with Vortech on this one and will hopefully have a prototype in a couple of months. This will allow us to add a bigger air filter and put it in a place where its easier to clean. Vortech has been great to work with and they really listened to our input on how to make this a better a kit for our vehicles. So here is the kit (which you've all seen before): Here are some pics of the double cooler: Lastly, on my way home from Vortech I picked up some barely used KW V2s from Sgt. Stanko. Thanks Steve! I was impatient and MOL (Ralph) and I installed them last week when I had a short day at work. So here is how she sits now. I want to thank Ralph for letting me use his garage, air tools, and bailing me out when I galled a thread on one of the front shocks. Now for some heavy duty axles and a LSD...
no problem bro any time. my garage is your garage, just don't steal any of my performance parts, lol. car is looking great.
very cool Adam. Just be cautious of the extra boost. Keep the tune on a conservative side when using that much boost... I am very interested in seeing the deleted after cooler design. Congrats brotha.
Nope. Stock bottom end. I know there is this 6 lb. gospel about using boost on our stock motors, but I don't think its very well researched in the new era of CMR tuning. (Sorry Ron) 6 lbs. on an add-a-injector kit has obviously been an issue, but I think our motors can handle more with proper tuning. The professionals in the supercharger field that I've spoken with seem to feel that 10 lbs. is the most the stock bottom end can handle. In any event, I'm adding a meth kit for safety and I won't be adding boost until I get a 392 to go under all the goodies that I currently have.
No need to apologize to me. I was merely giving friendly advise. lol Not like I haven't been there done that before.
I agree...we will all find out together one way or another lol! I think higher boost w a centri and a good tune is possible...the root/twin screw probably not as much due to teh instant boost.
Adam, the car looks great and I thought she pulled hard before the Vortech. How close to spanking John are you since he's been playing with the tuning?
I haven't run him since he has the CMR tune. That would be like someone with a CMR tuned N/A car vs a CARB'd tuned supercharged car. Oh wait, you guys did that... I know better than to bring a knife to a gun fight.
ron, i believe that after sema there is one guy with no common sense that will be taking his msrt8 back to vortech and uping the boost lb by lb to see what the stock short block will take, rumor has it that he used to work for a dealer but it might blow from his nitrous first if you listen to some people. lol
Nice Adam. Glad you got her back. I know you were glad to get in it again. Stance looks sweet brudda!
But rick Drag racing is for fast cars Adam Congrats on getting her back can't wait to see it!! hey so mols car is gonna sound like a huge Fart PFFFTTT(nos) PSSSHHHH (blower )THEN tiiifffft (airbag sound I think) HAHAHAHA
