I hit 2505 miles on my Charger and when I start the car now after 10 seconds the EVIC display Oil Change Required, SEE DEALER and then goes away. It only does it once on start up. I have the MyGig and NOWHERE on the MyGig is there any maintenance counter like on the older navigation systems. How do I make the car stop doing this and can I shut it off completely? Do I need StarScan to make this stop doing the oil change reminder?
It's got to be there somewhere Tony. Look for tiny little holes where you could stick a paper clip... If that fails you might have to read the manual . My T-bird had a tiny little hole in the trim plate around the stereo head unit. Wouldn't find it in a million years. You had to turn the key to on position without the car running and hold a paper clip against a little button in the whole until the display started flashing to reset it.
Manual was read cover to cover and it says nothing about this and neither does the navigation manual for that matter!
Could be a dealer programmable extra... They probably turned it on and forgot to replace "DEALER" with "XXXXX Dodge on Parsons, and Main St." i'll butt out now. Surely someone else has dealt with this.
I found this on another forum about the 2008 Charger SRT8's If you want to turn the chime off, get in the car, turn the ignition switch on, but don't start the car. Press the gas pedal to the floor three times in a row, turn the ignition off, and when you turn the ignition on again, it should reset. http://www.chargerforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=68931&highlight=change+warning+evic
My 06 SRT8 doesn't have this feature, but my 08 Nitro does. It surprised me when I saw it (the Nitro has no options at all). Mine has the same procedure to clear the message. I read in the manual that it is duty cycle based, and not just a mileage time bomb (every 2500 miles). I wonder what criteria the timer is based on? I'm interested to see what intervals mine shows up at. I'm glad you found the fix... Dave
Ok guys, I changed my oil today, filter etc And I did the above mentioned procedure and it works for resetting the oil change warning chime and message. Nowhere in the Mygig is there ANY maintenance feature like the old style navigation on my 06 JGC SRT8 And yes im a DIY kind of guy.
