damn I should have brought my dads stsv up and showed u guys what power really is. I am glad to hear u guys had fun wish I could have made it
I think it was because they're not holding the Wed night drags for the next 2 weeks. Someone did blow up, but it was later in the first round of the bracket racing. I was at the loser's bar drinking my coke and heard them on the loudspeaker talking about how they were cleaning up the blown transmission.
Yea, I was surprised to get 5 runs in, was quite happy bout that! Yea, I forgot horsepower, lol!! Na, actually nothing really, coulda used some water to drink and maybe some crackers or chips to munch on (went from 2-8pm out there) but that's about it. Actually there was a CTS-v that ran and couldn't break into the 13s so ... Yea, unfortunately I was sitting right next to you, doh! At least I lost cause I broke out ... (hey, I gotta trash talk a little bit, lol!)
Ok, I have a moment so I'll post up a few more things ... First my time slips. I don't have pix of them like Dave but here's the info ... VERY consistent. My ets, mphs, 60 foots, r/ts and even 1/8s were all very, very consistent. I hate bracket racing but I'd prolly be good at it in this car, lol! My bests ... R/T ... .011 60' ... 2.133 330' ... 5.726 1/8 ... 8.647 MPH ... 84.05 1000 ... 11.182 1/4 ... 13.324 MPH ... 105.36 2 ex. of my consistency ... my R/Ts were all under .100 (cept my last run which was my fault) and my 60s were all 2.1 something. Also my 1/8s were all 8.7s cept my last and fastest run which was 8.6. And my mph was all 103-105. Twice I even had the EXACT same 60 ... 2.149, amazing. I suppose I should bracket race after all, lol! Few other thoughts ... Dave did GREAT for his first time on a "real" drag strip. It can be kinda intimidating being on a BIG drag strip at a BIG track for the first time and Dave did great, especially with the few tips I gave him. PLUS, he was running RSAs and that's a huge handicap as we all know. I have F1s and I never once broke them loose (I suppose maybe I wasn't trying hard enough, lol!). I won every race (cept the last run when I broke out) EXCEPT for the one time I lined up against a C6. I was confident as I can keep pace with my neighbors C6 and this one didn't look anything special. I got him off the line and past the 1/8th and I thought I had the win for sure till right at the end ... he BLEW by me! Trap speed was 120 mph!! He had a Vortech blower on it, no fair!! 6 speed so he couldn't launch worth crap (plus he was going IN the water box on street tires the dummy) but once he got going it was seriously fast. My fav win was against a hot shot Mustang (beating that idiot was even better than beating Dave, lol). Typical moron Mustang guy, thought he was the shiat. I schooled him at the line (R/T .045 vs. .438) and through the 1/8th (8.74 vs. 9.00) en route the a 2/10 win. Didn't even look at me back in the staging lanes after that. Jerk. Most everyone was really cool tho, lots of different makes (ricers, metal) and I was suprised by all the GTOs. Just as many as there were Mustangs. And as Jeff said, one of the tech guys there was running his new Chally, very sweet! It was crowded (expected) but we still got in 5 runs, that was great! Couple factors on our runs (both Dave an myself). STRONG head wind slowed everyone I believe since other cars weren't running as fast as we thought they should (a CTS-v and an M3 couldn't even break into the 13s or 100 mph!). Temps were kinda warm too. My times slowly improved as the day went on as I noticed my engine temps drop (from a high of 205 the first run to 175 my last). Also I could have done better in the weight department. I need to drop some pounds myeself (lol!) but the car was almost full of gas and I did have some stuff in it I should have taken out. Prolly lost 1/10 or more there. And the Maggies are heavier anyway so that wasn't smart. I did brake stall everytime, not sure of my revs I just kinda "felt" it out. I liked doing that and didn't "bog" like Dave seemed to do, don't know why exactly. Also on more than one occasion I left the traction control on. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Still, I expected better times being at a track so close to sea level. However this was a good view of "real world" results for the average car right off the street and that was one of my goals, to see what my times would be in "street trim" so to speak. I would like to know the DA if anyone can help, tho they didn't put temp or humidity on our time slips. Doh. All in all a great time and I want to go again later in the fall when the temps come down more and I "prep" the car better ... I WANT THAT 12 SECOND TIME SLIP!! Lol! Thanks for reading all, I know this was long.
It seemed like the track wasn't prepped too well as I couldn't get below a 2.04 60' I usually get better 60' times when I practice launching the night before on some empty roads near my house. I use the 0-60 timer on the EVIC and see how low I can get it. I've noticed the 0-60 timer correlates really well to the 1/4 mile at the track. Usually anything below 4.72 will get me into the 12s.
get that 60' down and your good to go!....now if only i could figure out how to do that..........:sorry:
Most of them started with "Oh yea, I should've told you..." and you only raced once twenty years ago... remember? There were quite a few trucks at the track. (Although I think that damned septic tank truck was a 10 second car). No wonder those F1's hooked so well. On my last run I noticed they had a small lcd temp display in the window of the building off to the right of the trees. didn't say temp on it or anything, just a number. It was in the mid/upper 60's on our last run. I found that DA chart that Jeff pointed us to. http://www.racecarbook.com/altdens.shtml
Very cool guys! I'm surprised Dave hasn't figured out the DA for that night. Glad it was a good time though! Edit: Dave found it LOL.
I know. I was extremely consistent with my times tho. I was afraid of spinning too much, that was my prob before with my Mustang. I ran at 107-109 mph but couldn't get into the 13s even! This time I didn't want to waste runs spinning so I rolled into it, I supposed I shoulda rolled harder since I never felt the tires spin (I DO like the F1s, I don't care what anyone else says). Next time I'm gonna waste at least one run just romping on it from the get go to see what happens!
Is this possible? Google Earth shows the start at 17' elevation and the finish at 44' elevation. That's a 27' uphill pull!
Yeah, its uphill...one thing I thought was different about Infineon from other strips I've been too. Do you calculate that into the times?
yeah suck a fat one hahahaha....didnt YOU tell me about a CA track where you can get a stock SRT running like 9.3 the DA is so low?
How can that be?!?! I've never heard that ... although you know standing there looking at the track as others ran it did kinda seem like it was going up a bit at the end but still, NHRA runs there as well as everywhere and ets/mph need to be comparable. IF this is true then they HAVE to adjust for it to make everything fair. Right? BTW, nice Stevo, I see now thanks to Milan that your so called "Real" track is rigged?? Downhill???? Sheesh, lol!!
Help Mr. Wizard! Lol! Ok, so I've looked at the chart in the link a hundred times but I'm no closer to understanding it now than before I ever saw it. :sorry: So, how do you read it, what was our DA for the day and how do you correct the times to show for it??? Thanks, boy it sure is nice having Mr. Wizard as a friend, lol! :friends: :worthy:
We need the temp, humidity, and barometric pressure at the time the light turned green. Then see if there's a match for those 3 on the chart and read the DA. lol. Or plug them into any DA calculator and figure 0 (16') for altitude.
I always check barometric pressure, temp and humidity before I head to the track on the internet. When I get there I use the temp on my EVIC which is usually 5* higher than actual. Barometric pressure is usually on the time slip and normally at Infineon when I have run is around 29.8 or thereabouts
You know... it'd be better if you just went away. Scott's looking for some explanation for his miserable times. Unfortunately you showed up and ran 13.0's. That's only going to leave us with weight and aerodynamics with the huge head wind. You're not helping :bang: haha, j/k. Barometric pressure on the slips from first to last run was 29.82, 29.88, 29.92, 29.92, 29.88. Temps dropped some during the first 4 runs and then significantly on the last one.
Thanks Jeff. If I had known all this I would have planned ahead, I just assumed this stuff was on the time slips. Ah the joys of being a newb, lol! So according to Dave the bp is on our slips but not temp or humidity. Temp we can kinda guess at but I have no idea what the humidity was, do you?? Lol, leave Jeff alone, hahahahhaha, he's actually HELPING! And just for the record my "miserable" times were better than yours, hahahhahaa! Ok, so we know the bp and can get a pretty good estimate of the temps but what about humidity? Can we find out what it was?? AND WHY DOESN'T THE TRACK PUT THIS STUFF ON THE TIME SLIP?!?!? Lol!! Geez, for $25 you'd think they could at least do that, hahahhahahaa!!
