Very doubtful it's a centrifical. Will need to be somewhat like stock intake. I'm pretty sure I know what it's supposed to be. But wouldn't give you odds on it at this time. Things changing daily. SC's coming out of the woodwork.

anyway you look at it, this could mean big things for all of us!!!! with the amount of s/c systems coming out right now, hopefully some of this will cause the pricing to come down and be more in line with other manufacture's systems!!!! ford and gm cars are not having to pony up 6k and higher for "base" kits!!!

I hope it is a twin screw and not a centrifugal.
I think Saleen is working on a twin screw or already has one, he is doing it on the Salleen Challenger. Maybe this is the one Mopar will pick up.

All Mopar will probably do is buy out something that has a good working reputation and label it, just like the Mopar/Corsa exhaust and the Mopar/KW shocks.

    They could pick centrifugal:
    Vortech
    ATI
    GSM.....
    Paxton

Or they could be twin screw with:
    Harrop
    RDP
    Salleen
    I-Charger....

And others...like Kenne Bell or Eaton.... but they haven't even done any thing much for the new Hemi yet. I mean that for these guys making the S/C is not the problem, it is tuning knowledge.

Eaton and Auburn said they are waiting on enough demand to start making an LSD/Electric Locker for our cars.
I told them to come here and make that statement.

Back to that Mopar Supercharger....I hope they pick the one from SMS Supercars. The SMS 296 Supercharger is one sweet unit.

    THIS IS A MUST READ!

Very Interesting and a good read.
.......Can you imagine this unit with a Mopar Emblem where the SMS one is.

    No Way!!!!!!!!

It will take a few years before a manufacturer takes a prototype, non proven, non durability tested, non EPA, non SQAQMD approved power adder and install or offer it into production for the masses vehicle. You may see something come out as "Off Road Use" type offering first while all the tests are conducted.

A SEMA show is one thing........California is the leader in smog/emission standards and if it aint approved here it may not get approved at all.......at least not for a production run and NOT for a few years down the road.

True, true, but like NetNathan said it's Mopar and not production. I don't think they have the lead time before branding something and most all Mopar stuff is "off road use only".

Maybe I'm missing something, but in the link posted by the OP, you can follow the links to a pic that is obviously a Vortech Supercharger with the aftercooler?
Is that simply something that these guys have already done, does it have any bearing on what is being discussed here?

    Little slow on the answer.
In the Autoblog article link from Post #1, they mention Mopar competing with SpeedFactory's Challenger.
The link to SpeedFactory does show a Vortech and says they used a Vortech on the Challenger build.
SpeedFactory specials in Chrysler performance vehicles, They sell fully built new cars (this is the key to the article) or will rebuild yours

Autoblog has really weird writers.... you have to know how to read in-between the lines.....lol

Here is the quote with hidden fact underlined:
"Mopar can't let Speedfactory have all the fun supercharging the Dodge Challenger SRT-8, so when the SEMA show rolls around this November, the in-house tuners of all things pentastar will unveil a blown Challenger of their own."

The Challenger that Mopar will be showing at SEMA will almost positively be the Saleen SMS Challenger. And it will have Saleen's new SMS 296 twin-screw S/C.

    SpeedFactory site:
    http://www.speedfactorycars.com/vehicles.html

The SMS S/C, once sold as a kit, will probably be the one #1 choice we are waiting for.

That about sums it up nicely. However, Kenne Bell "May" be in the hunt to supply Chrysler with a blower as well. But I am leaning towards SMS as well.

Like I said in an earlier post,..... I think Kenne is a little late on the game. Keene may have the blower ability no doubt, but tuning experience may hinder them.
The same could be said for SMS, but from what I have neen reading, I think Mopar is already helping them.

True, but Kenne has sent me an email and a few others that they WILL be debuting their blower for the Challenger (only) at SEMA. Tuning is being done now by Kenne Bell.

But yea, it would make perfect sense to see the SMS Blower.

Quoted from SMS Challenger on LX Forums:
"We have a target of the first week of October to begin production on the SMS 296 Supercharger at an MSRP of approximately $7,000 for a complete kit (no additional parts, tuning or fabrication required)."

It is on post #97 of an interesting thread.

This is great news that reputable company with a true custom/production car history and business plan finally steps to the plate. This Supercharger looks like the real deal.

My feelings exactly. Especially a reputable company with carmaker support.
