I had the tranny torn down and inspected. We replaced some clutches, because "why not" we were already in there. But the clutches looked no worse than any 40,000 mile tranny should.

The trans fluid was shot, and trans temp management proved to be the biggest issue. I added a huge trans cooler with a 450CFM fan. No issue since.

I'm assuming you've been sleeping under a rock?

Perhaps you hang around the wrong forums? LMAO

This is good news to hear!..........I've succome to the Darkside and ordered a ZEX kit from Southern Hotrod.

Do you have a link to the bigger transmission cooler and fan? I would like to upgrade mine eventually. Did you replace the clutches with OEM or upgraded ones? Is that a pretty easy job for a skilled Chrysler Viper Mechanic?

    Sorry for all the questions,
    Thanks!
    :thanks:

I thought Stanko had a hook-up for a trans cooler? Or was that an oil cooler?

The Jeep is gonna be a bit different than the LX tranny I would think?

    Let's see......
    1) I bought a Derale from Summitracing.com. Just find the biggest one you can make fit, and it needs a fan.
    2) Replaced with OEM clutches
    3) Simple job on the car trans. I have no knowledge on the Jeep trans.

I have been accused of being obsessive once I get involved in something......

LOL. I think I can hit 9.1x in the Camaro or even 9.0x before this Fall is done.

Any early bets on what it runs next spring?

Too much converter slip right now.
Going to tighten up about 4%. That should be good for 5.6 mph.
Then going to a tire with 105 inch rollout instead of 100. That's good for another 7 mph.

So my peak potential MPH will be about 153 by the Spring.
I just got the car recerted this month. Good for 8.50 for three years without doing anything else.

LOL. Don't know that I "deserve" anything. But so long as it generates great conversation with friends, any thread is good!
